I don't think so buddy...Lewis blew his load in that last round and with the little bit of breath he had left he spent complaining to the ref to stop the fight......I think Vitali was well on his way to winning as he took all the blows and was never really hurt, just cut

As for Vitali coming back and fighting before Sam Peter....hey someone had to LET Vitali do that, WBC, Oleg Maskaev....they both are more at fault, Vitali COULD have taken a warm up fight but why? He had the ability to help make this fight happen and he did it....Sam Peter and ANYONE ELSE in Vitali's position would have done the same.

No one is excited at a SURE THING Vitali-Sam Peter happening OR the even bigger Vitali-Lewis II happening?

Or even a Wladimir Klitschko-Sam Peter II happening
The fight with Lewis might as well been a TKO. When did winning by cuts not count?

People are always going to ask 'what if' about his fight with Lewis, as I see it Lewis won and thats that. But regardless of that back to the point of does he deserve a shot? Id say yes - but after Peter gets his shot, after messing him around making him fight Toney again and all that. I say let Peter fight Maskaev then Vitali take on the winner. Or at the very least make Vitali fight Peter first then the winner of that get a title fight. Vitali does deserve a shot but he doesnt deserve to automatically jump the que ahead of Peter for it.

lewis was saved by the grace of God when he accidentally cut Vitali= i think thats over doing lyle vitali was ahead by 2 rounds yes but if i remember right at end of the 6th he was holding on for dear life vitali fought great fight no question but i think that uppcercut at end took alot out of vitali and like i said he was holding on at end of the 6th if it wouldnt of been for the cut its toss up for me i really cant say but i disagree with people saying that vitali definetly would of won if it wouldnt of been for cut
You are correct . I cant see how Vitali would have won cuz his best shots bounced of Lewis and Klit was starting to tire . Infact he looked like he was on his last legs cut or no cut .

His Emiritus status entitles him to the title shot. WBC make the rules, but even so, Klitschko has been robbed twice from a win against Lewis, through no fault of his own.. He deserves his shot

I think Vitali deserves a shot AFTER Peter. I don't have a problem with him being given a title shot his first fight back. But he is still behind Peter. I think this is just too allow both to have titles at the same time. Maskeave will almost surely lose to Peter, or Klitshko. So give Peter his shot, and have Vitale fight the winner.

I don't know how Peter fares against Vitali. That man hits hard and has a chin. It would definitely be an exciting fight. Personally I think you need to go to the body to stop Vitali. Anyway my vote is Peter gets the shot, Vitali gets winner.

    ii) upon a majority vote of the Board of Governors, any boxer rated from 11 to 19 positions;

That just gives a list of available voluntary fight options for a champion.

Peter is the madatory. Mandatory means who is damn well supposed to mean a non optionial fight.

    This is the dictionary definition.

    Mandatory

Peremptory; obligatory; required; that which must be subscribed to or obeyed.

Mandatory statutes are those that require, as opposed to permit, a particular course of action. Their language is characterized by such directive terms as "shall" as opposed to "may." A mandatory provision is one that must be observed, whereas a directory provision is optional.

An example of a mandatory provision is a law that provides that an election judge must endorse his or her initials on a ballot.

    mandatory

    adjective

Imposed on one by authority, command, or convention: compulsory, imperative, necessary, obligatory, required, requisite. See obligation.

    man·da·to·ry (măn'də-tôr'ē, -tōr'ē) pronunciation
    adj.

    1. Required or commanded by authority; obligatory: Attendance at the meeting is mandatory.
    2. Of, having the nature of, or containing a mandate.
    3. Holding a League of Nations mandate over a territory.

    n., pl. -ries.

    A mandatary.
hey bilbo, thanks for the definition, even though i already knew what it means...But guess what....
Just klitschko coming back makes him a Mandatory as well. So now you got two (weird huh) and in the end, i guess they pick the fight that is best for the sport...

Lyle is right. This is great, Vitaly has never been beaten and would beat most if not all all time greats. Now there are only fun fighters left: 2K, Peter, Maskaev, Valuev, ... exciting (Corrie Sanders lurking in the background)

Alright maybe i was a little harsh calling him a coward, but
    1. He HAS been beaten
    2. Obviously he didnt wasnt to get injured but injuries happen as a result of the fight so Byrd and Lewis won. I guess McCline never lost to Valuev then too huh....its part of the sport
3 I agree that Sam Peter has been fighting his @ss off, while Vitali has done nothing in two years so there is not much of an argument as to who deserves a shot at Maskaev

LEGALLY a stoppage on wounds is a LOSS, but we all know what a real loss is; its being shown a worse boxer, and having a knee or elbow accident doesnt do that.
