I'm a big Vitali fan, but if he gets to cut Peter in line after Peter has earned his shot, been waiting 6 mo's paid the cash and Beat Toney 2x to get there, then Its just blatant horseshit... Why Maskaev? Why not Briggs? Why not Valuev?.

Dont get me wrong I couldnt be happier that Vitali is coming back, but this is just absurd and surreal if he gets to bump Peter out of line for a title shot...

Peter. I have to admit I was wrong in wanting the Toney rematch. I let my dislike of the decision cloud my judgment when Peter should have been next in line to fight Maskaev. The WBC thinks they can do anything they want so long as 'it's in the book'. They promised Peter a shot at the championship twice, took his money and in the end let another guy have his slot. Essentially, they're saying their promises mean nothing and neither do fighters' money who pay for the 'privilege' of fighting for their belts.

What is this crap honestly Vitali supposedy retired because his injuries were too severe to retain is title, he had to withdraw within a week of his defence against Rahman(who was nowhere near as good as Peter is now) And now suddenly he's just coming back against Maskaev?? I don't get it... Even his fans should see that a couple easy fights would be a better option. He could wear off any rest, and besides that make sure he is at full capacity and isn't going to injure easily again. AND, most importantly, if he does that then a fight with Peter once he has become legitimate champ vs Maskaev would be MUCH bigger. Honestly, and I MAY be going out on a limb here, but I don't think a KLit vs Maskaev fight in Moscow would mean a whole lot becase Maskaev isn't thought of by anybody as dominant, he didn't win a belt legitimately or linearly, and has been KTFO by several simply average fighters. Let Peter KO Maskaev, let Vitali work his way back to contention, it's not as if either are unlikely.... And when that does happen, Peter would be a much more sigjnifigant fight imo. The only way I could possibly be in favour of this decision is if Peter get's an immediate shot at Vitali SOON after Maskaev... Because honestly Olgeg won't even give Vitali trouble in a million years.
Made the same mistake myself buddy.

Peter clearly deserves the shot. The WBC are crooked and are all kunts.

V.Klit is a coward for wanting to comeback against the weakest of all the heavyweight champions.

If he's as good as some people make out then let him go straight for Valuev, as he's obviously not going to fight his brother.

Hope he breaks both his knees if he does get his shot ahead of Peter.

And if him and Peter do ever fight I hope Peter KO's him into permanent retirement.

As I said in the other thread, Peter should face Maskaev and Vitali should fight Toney (Ranked #2 by the WBC) in a title eliminator.

You know James Toney is my favourite fighter but after 3 fights without a win I hardly see him as deserving of yet another eliminator.

He needs to get back to winning fights before he's ready for another shot.

I see what you're saying, but...............
Toney or not, the next guy on the list is :

Sinan Samil Sam (Ranked #3 by the WBC) does he deserve a title eliminator shot?
He has the WBC International Heavyweight Title, he is the guy that lost the title eliminator to Maskaev.
But he has an open Date in May.

after that would be Hasim Rahman (Ranked #4 by the WBC)
Just lost the title to Maskaev, already has a fight with Ray Mercer lined-up

below him Oliver McCall (Ranked #5 by the WBC)
Coming off of a win over Yanqui Diaz hasn't fought for
a title since Lewis beat him in '97, has no fight scheduled, just fought in December.

Vitali vs. Sam may be worth it no?

I think Vitali vs Sam as a title eliminator would be fair. Rahman deserves an eliminator more than Toney right now, at least as far as the WBC is concerned.

Oliver McCall definitely deserves a shot. Only 1 defeat in around 25 fights since losing to Lennox Lewis, and he hasn't lost since 2004. He's done as much as Briggs did to deserve his shot.

I think a Vitali vs. Toney would be great for an elimination fight. However, I really think that Toney would get hurt bad in such a match-up and possibly stopped.
Even Freddy doesn't seem very confident in the things he's seen from James. Vitali is an accurate puncher and a super-H.W. who hits very hard. His roboticism aside,
he seems to get the job done and seems to befuddle most of his opponents with his unorthodox style of fighting. In fact, that's what made him successful and allowed
him to put up a competitive match-up against an albeit old, Lewis, but one who seemed game for the fight in route to the TKO. Further, both fighters took that fight on VERY short notice.
I doubt that we'll see Lewis come out of retirement. He's one of the few intelligent H.W.'s out there who has his wits about him and a vast fortune with a secure legacy. Why would
he want to jeopardize that. I just hope I'm not eating crow in 6 months. But I just don't see it happening.
