Wow. People are really critical of fighters, huh? I guess it all boils down to what you like about boxing.
Personally, I like different types of fights - they don't all have to be the first round of Hagler-Hearns! Hopkins/Wright is a good matchup of two very skilled boxers, and while chances are good they're not gonna go toe to toe in the middle of the ring, I'll still watch the fight just to see two consummate professionals at work.

So why cant it be at 160 or even 168?

170 is a copout and only reduces Winky's options.

Hopkins at this stage is playing the arch manipulator and I just dont buy it.

Why not fight another guy at light heavy, why not move up to cruiser?....no, he calls out a guy that the guy that beat him last got a decision over and asks him to move up 10 pounds...

    Its ridiculous....

as much as i slate hopkins for the thigns he done, in the ring i enjoy watching him and a lot of people would class him as borring as fuck from eastman, taylor I +II - tarever was great fight... but is till enjoy watching the 'borring fights' its just a freaking joke imo IF this si true and el gamo aint trying to burn us

Hopkins is a gym rat and can make 160 no probs - its the devision he fought in almost his entire career! winky is a 154 fighter at best, and he wnats to fight him at 170? thats bullshit

So what Hopkins has fought at middle for most of his career... He's almost 43 years old and just last year he put on 15 lbs of pure muscle to fight at light heavy.. How in earth do you know what he can or can't make comfortably? And the same with Wright... People are being silly, Winky wouldn't have signed to fight at 170 if he didn't feel he could make it, and I know that he walks around higher then that and has generally weighed close to there on fight night in his last few bouts. It's two great p4p fighters here, and people are calling it a farce. What on earth more do you wan't, would you really have rather seen him fight a shot Roy Jones?

Why not let Hokins try to unify at light heavy then, instead of calling up somebody way out of their weight class?!

Yes, I would prefer a shot at Jones Jr, at least Jones has his experience at 175...

I'd rather see him stay retired. If he must fight then fight Calzaghe.

I think you made a point about their respective weights. It can be refuted but it's a solid case.

Experience getting Brutally KOed and running scared for 12 rounds the last 3 times he fought anyone worth a damn, incidently twice the guy Hopkins just dismantled.. What would make you believe that this would be a more competitive fight than Winky vs HOpkins?? Winky just beat jermain Taylor(imo), and has always been huge for 154.. No reason he can't bulk up 10 lbs if Hopkins did 15 last year.. Like there's really any difference between 168 and 170 anyways.. It's not as if it would be for a belt then, and Winky can weight in whatever he likes under 170 if it would suit him better.

Winky doesn't drink beer and stuff his face in between fights, nor does he look like a fatass... It's a bit different.

Wow. Winky cries like a baby that he should have beat Taylor (even though he didn't) and walks away from a rematch like a child. Hopkins has just put on one snooze fest after another in his recent fights and can't seem to make up his mind on who wants to fight. Some "purists" might think this will be a great chess match, i personally think it is one of the less intriguing fights in what should be a great year for boxing.

One question, are you retarded? How could you not see Winky winning the Taylor fight... he clearly won it, and outlanded Taylor by 60 some punches. I would be pissed as well because he was also robbed of the Vargas fight, and the Simon fight. Also WInky will come foreward not allowing Hopkins to fight safely on the outside.

How do you figure, even if it's a snooze fest Winky is recognized on almost everyones top 3 p4p list.

For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
