So why ain't he fighting Kessler?
not because he's scared, you're never scared to fight someone good when you're a champ. the reasons are money, place, lost of ranking/fame/cash possibilities....but being afraid to fight someone just because you're scared ?? they won't be at that level otherwise.

when you're an amateur you don't know against who you're going to fight, if you're already scared each time you see a good boxer, you don't turn pro ^^

IMO Calzaghe is a far better boxer than Kessler...and has all the toll to win agaisnt him...

Sure Calzaghe vs kessler would be a good bout, but Calzaghe vs Roy Jones or Hopkins is on my wishlist first ^^

When Calzaghe as retired and we look back we won't beable to pick out a career defining fight because bottom line is he has'nt fought anybody.

He don't need to retire for me to do that.

Oh this is such a good thread...

Anywho, while I do not think that Joe is scared of Kess...he is indeed avoiding him & that is the smart thing to do.

If you look at Joe's record & try to tear it apart fighter by fighter...you may think that you have a case...but Joe has fought some good fighters & made them look bad...just as Kessler has.

The thing with both men's records is that a lot of people England & the U.S. either don't know the fighters or they just want to hate for the sake of hating on Calzaghe because he is a backyard champion...I totally disagree with that due to the fact that many other fighters stay in their homeland & never get scolded for the same faults that they lash Joe with. Sit down & scan Joe's career. Watch him work. Those losses didn't just climb through the ropes & happen...he made them drop & stop.

As far as Kessler goes...I say that he has the tools to beat Joe & if he's gonna do it...now might be the time...but I doubt the fight get's made unless HBO takes a shine to Kessler. Joe's fight against Manfredo (hate it as much as I do) was a smart marketing ploy...but it does little for his career...in fact...as little as it does...it does more than a fight with Kessler.

No one really REALLY knows Kessler & those that do don't rate him...which is the same error that they make with Joe & based on the same grounds...most have never seen him or have seen to little.

Anywho...I say that Kessler could beat Calzaghe at this time. Joe's hands are going & they are going fast. If he doesn't make short work of Manfredo...it could ruin his chances in the future & fighting once a year does little for Joe all the way around. Kessler is younger, stronger, & more active...Joe's advantage lies in his speed & reflexes.

I honestly think that Kessler would be the fight of Joe's career & would be more defining than the Lacy win. Laugh all you want...but a win & an explosive/competitive fight would speak bounds for Calzaghe. The question remains...could he win against Kessler?

what would be better than 2 undeafeated champions battling it out for undisputed status!...........i dont know why calzaghe hasnt made this fight happen,i understand why alot of people think his scared of kess, cause thats how it looks but maybe his not its just his cock manager convincing him to fight reality tv bums with no cerdibility...............but i would deffinatly pay to see this fight,i think kessler is to good for joe,but well probably never find out cause this fight will never happen

Honestly, I sympathize with Joe. The Kessler fight get's pushed to the back burner because there are bigger fights out there for Calzaghe & more money to be made against names that are established in the boxing community.

Manfredo equates to more viewers outside the HBO box. The Contender, as cheesey as it was to most die hards, carried a lot of weight with average Joe & would pull in a shitload of viewers that Kessler couldn't...even though he is the better fighter compared to Manfredo...he's nearly an unknown to American fight fans & that is what Joe is after right now...American fight fans & American super fights.

Then we have it Joe and Warren is smarter than the Danish team. Kessler should just take on on other contender star in order to qulify for a unification match, then get ready to meet Joe. I wonder if the belt have lost all the value. Kessler has WBA and WBC belts Joe the WBO ( had the IBF) that is a fight I would pay to watch and that would be big in Europe in the states too maybe ?

The Danish team thought so, wonder if Joe and Warren would give Kessler a match if Kessler beats Andrade ? or would they need more proof of Kesslers qualities.

Kessler and Andrade is on HBO by the way so we can hope for a great fight.

Realisticly there's a lot bigger chance of Calzaghe-Kessler ever happening, if Kessler looks absolutely terrible against Andrade (but just manages to hold on to his belts).

But as long as Kessler looks like a credible opponent chances Calzaghe will want to fight him are minimal.

Kessler wants the bout, and considering the fact that the bout hasnt happened, we know who does not want the fight
Super Middleweight also acknowledge as Kessler's Kingdom when Calzaghe has retire

Don't you think that Lacy's last performance may have something to do with the beating he took against Calzaghe - Nobody is gonna be the same after that. 1000 Punches landed!!!!!

Or maybe if Kessler looks a million dollars HBO will demand the fight.

Exactly, Lacy has had some of the fight knocked out of him. It would explain the time it took for him to comeback, and the lacklustre performance...
