It's a part of boxing. A good part. What you rather they hold hands and tell each how great they think each other is?

I like trash talking. But especially the subliminal trash talkers like Thomas Hearns. Like before the Leonard fight.

Ray Leonard was saying "Boy you better be ready. Pop pop pop pop that sgonna be your head!"

And Hearns said "Thats fine..all I'll need is one shot.."

Then Leonard dipped his head and shook it slowly and everyone laughed.

Back when trash talking was like that it was very fun

That wasn't trash talking, that was the truth.....and wasn't it Joe Gatti when he fought one of the Hiltons?

Not sure, i wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't. Rickys sound an i think he's a little in awe of JLC an has bags of respect for him, don't get me wrong i don't mean he's scared of him by any stretch of the imagination butthats Ricky. When he beat KT he said that KT had given him his number an said phone me any time if you need advice an Rick was stoked, he'll probably keep in touch with JLC after the fight and when he did ring walk with MAB he likes mixing with the boxing elite so if the chance to have a bit of scram an a beer with someone of JLCs caliber comes up hes grabbed it with both hands, don't think theres owt sinster in it.

Not everyone is a silent warrior. Sometimes it's good to have someone that's confident enough to talk and say things. Trash talk is great, why should PBF, Toney, or anyone else keep their mouth shut just because some people don't like it? They're the ones training and devoting their lives to the sport, they should be allowed to act however they want to despite who they are or aren't pissing off. Honestly, I wouldn't want to watch a press conference, for example, between Shane and ODLH because they'd just be sucking each other cocks for an hour, I like the PBF-ODLH press conference because there's conflict, it's funny, it's entertaining, and it's getting people that might not be boxing fans amped up about watching the fight. Not everyone can be a quiet nice guy, and that's what's awesome about sports, because for every Marvin Harrison, Tim Duncan, and Shane Mosley, you have a TO, Gilbert Arenas, and a Ricardo Mayorga.

I would not necessarily equate silence with being nice to wit: Hagler.

Hell yeah, i've been reading a book called 'the dark trade' and a lot of that is about James Toney. The author spent quite a lot of time with Toney and he talks just as much trash to everyone. It's not an act. It's very real.

Some fighters need to trash talk to get big fights because there skills alone aren't on par with others or is just not crowd pleasing, they make you think they are really going to get after it but the fights usually end up the way everyone expected, lacking excitement. The fighters that don't talk are usually the most confident ones relying on their skills to do the talking.
