I think a lot of people underrate Mosley...me? I just don't like him...but that doesn't mean that he aint a hell of a fighter.

Pernell all the way. Mosley is a great athlete, but only a good boxer. He lacks a certain finesse that the best seem to have. THat's why he looks so much more awkward or robotic compared to Mayweather, Whitaker, Roy Jones Jr., and thats why I think loses to any of them(RJJ in p4p sense).

Mosely has what I call a refined throwback style, Shane fights a lot like guys in the early days of boxing. very strong for a small guy , fast hands, accurate puncher. keeps his hands a bit low at times, mostly to bait guys in so he can counter them . however he will go on the offense quickly, Shane don't just wait around all days like some counter punchers do, he will spring into action and keep an excellent work rate going throughout the match !

I would favor Pete slightly , however it could go the other way…would have been a prime for prime thrill ride

It certainly is a hard one to pick, but with Mosleys better Oral stability me thinks he shades it

I'm not trying to change the thread topic, but I'm curious about something......

Those of you who are picking Mosley, where do you rank Mosley in his prime on an all-time list?
Because the vast majority of the so-called media "experts" would rank a prime Pernell Whitaker among the top 10-12 fighters PFP of all-time. Do you think Mosley deserves that type of status as well?

Now this is one of the hardest match up's to decide between.....damn i hate you Sugar Shaw!! id possibly go with Shane because at 135 he was immensly fast and powerful....but then agen you never really saw anyone clearly beat Pernell and his defence was so damn good, fook it i cant pick.

How do you think it's a bad match?
Because before I made my previous post, I thought to myself, "Maybe they're picking Shane because they think the style matchup favors him..."
But then I broke the fight down in my head and:

Whitaker is clearly better technically... I think everyone would agree on this
Whitaker is better defensively.... I think everyone agrees here too
Whitaker has faster hands...I'm sure some would argue it's even here, but I disagree
Whitaker has faster and better feet.... Mosley was never really a mover, he was always straight ahead
The only edge I see for Mosley is power, and I think Whitaker proved he could take anyone's best punch. Mosley's not going to KO someone who a prime Trinidad couldn't even KO, and I don't see how Mosley wins on points

No disrespect to Mosley, but I just always viewed him as clearly below the top tier of lightweights (Duran, Whitaker)

Interesting veiws, I just picture them in my head in a certain contex and work it out, theresplenty of footage of the pair for reference and Im not a bad judge, its part of the job

Whitaker is better technically, He is beter defensively. I very much disagree with his hand, and foot speed. His footwork was more efficient, and thus allowed him to cut corners Mosley couldn't but he wasn't quicker in any way except maybe reflexes, and even then I think its Mosley's lack of style that allows him to get hit so easily.

Whtaker is technically better at what he does not what Mosley does, Mosley commits in range in clusters with good posture doesnt reach and stays on the back foot. Shane will always struggle with taller fighters because of it, people his stature its a different story plus hes very good at moving his front foot. Id have loved to see it be a classic.
