I think Tua and Peter prime for prime would have made a terrific and brutal fight. I honestly could not pick the winner with much confidence.

I feel Peter was the better boxer and had a weight advantage but Tua had such good chin and stamina/output as evidenced by his fight with Ibeabuchi.

Both warriors would have made excellent competition for prime Tyson. Whilst Tyson had the edge on them in defence, speed and skillset, Tua and Peter were much heftier and durable imo.

Bumped a six year old thread to say a "prime" Sam Peter beats Tua, or Tyson? Either of those guys anywhere near their best would have Peter out in a few rounds, he doesn't even pose a threat imo.

Agreed. Prime Peter vs. Wilder would be far more interesting.

Tua is literally a hungry fighter that is too heavy to leave the dinner table and it's hard to be ambitious or aggressive when you are at this location too long. Peters is a winner if they fight only because he spends less time at the training table and if I remember correctly from my last meal, beef ribs can't run from anyone if they are weighed down with barbeque sauce. Tua's mindset is exactly what will make him lose always pointing out that he needs more work. He ain't ready mentally and his best days are behind him because when your best days are behind you and you aren't learning how to pace yourself and use lateral movement even if it's sparse, You lose and I used to think he had potential but what do I know, I am just a fan and I don't want to see Tua hurt unnecessarily.

He is definitely a better boxer than Tua was. Tua did have amazing chin and power though but Peter everytime Tua stepped up against real opponents he lost. Ruiz and Moorer are champs sure but they are walking knockouts who's only victories over a great champ were Holyfield- a light hitter and easy to hit one! Meanwhile Peter actually made it to HW champ and almost knocked out Wladimir Klitschko, regarded by the sane as the lineal HW champ!

I would say Peter beats Tua but I'm so impressed with David's performance against Ike that I could not dismiss him. His stamina, workrate, chin and power are immense! He just didn't know how to box.

Tyson can box and has better skillset/speed than either of them. But to say Peter couldn't hang with him is just bias! Peter is atleast as good as Ruddock.

Peters come forward style , i think maybe Sam wud try to use boxing skills and jab rather than meet Tua head on
but it wud be a good fight maybe like Ibeabuchi v Tua
WOT DO YOU GUYS THINK ?
If Tua stays fat- he gets his first KO loss.

In the Rahman vs Tua rematch Rahman shook Tua up badly at the end so i believe Peter at this point in Tua's career would stop him

Both came in as Fat slobs and as far as the scoring goes Rahman did absolutely nothing from from the 5th round on except clinch, watch the fight again...Rahman should have had pts deducted at least if not DQ'd again watch the fight...Obviously If this version of TUA shows up gainst Peter he obviously does not win...
Granted ! But Tua did even less !!

Tua is wasted talent and theres nothing Sadder !! In that fight he was even easier to hit than usual .

Tua has promised much but delivered little hes been given ample oppurtunity.

At this stage of his career i cant see him suddenly turning it all around laying off the cheseburgers and becoming a born again fighter .

Tua was good if you stood toe to toe but if you moved on him he just didnt have a clue .

In the right fight he could look a million dollars and whilst Peter aint a fleet footed stylist he has enough moves to stop Tua late .

    Tua is lazy .

Tua will not win a fight with Sam Peter.

Sam Peter will not win a rematch against Wlad.

Tua was a force to be reckoned with prior to his "comeback" and I would have bet on him against many quality fighters. Tua was the man. And then he stopped being the man very suddenly. Poor conditioning, lackluster drive, and failure to get in close when it mattered. He will lose a UD to Sam Peter 10 out of 10 times in this year of our Lord, 2007.

    As for Wlad/Peter,

All i hear is how much Peter improved from Toney I to Toney II, but you all forget who's been steadily improving at the same time. Wlad. Wlad has grown in confidence and mental fortitude with every single fight since Corey Sanders. He beat Sam once, and even had to go down three times in the process. These made him a better fighter and helped him to overcome his fear of getting hit and getting dropped.

I see no one challenging Wlad in any significant fashion given the current crop of heavyweights. Surely not Brewster, and Sam will not be as intimidating a second time around. Especially since Wlad knows he can be hurt now, though he learned it late last fight. That was a bitch of a left hook he buzzed Peter with.

Oddly, i give the most chance to Valuev. Not because I think he can outfight Wlad, but because he's so damn big. If he leaned on Wlad all night and sapped his juice (his one suspect area IMO), i could actually see him wearing down Wlad and then who knows?

Toney was able to freeze Peter several times in their fight and if he were to freeze like that against David Tua its over...Tua would crowd Peter and Sam is not a good enough boxer to Keep Tua at range...Tua is a much better boxer than Peter and when in shape and would easily win a decision if it goes to the cards...

Remember until Peter fought Wlad he fought absolutely NO ONE of any note...aside from a well-shot Jeremey Williams its tough to identify anyone on his resume...now looks at Tua's resume Ruiz, Izon, Maskaev, Oquendo, Moorer, Nicholson, etc.. It's not even a comparison.

Now I will go further...Peter's power is OVERRATED, that's right...Toney went toe-to-toe in two fights and one questionable knockdown, Toney always knew that Peter's power was overrated that's why he singled him out...Peter's power became legend when he caught Jeremey Williams with a dramatic punch so Sam Peter has joined the elite group of heavy hiters Brian Nielsen, Maurice Harris and Henry Akinwande that KO'd Jeremey prior to Peter...Hell Williams is the only recognizable name that Sam Peter ever KO'd...Oh I forgot the legendary Julius Long, LMAO...

Regarding the Tua/Rahman 2 that you keep referring to, go to YOUTUBE.COM and watch the Sumo match err fight again...Tua was the only one even trying to fight from 5 on but having the equally fat Rahman trying to make love to him made it impossible and also near impossible to watch...I think the ref was aroused by having two sweaty, grossly obese, nearly naked men embracing, otherwise he would have certainly deducted some points from Rahman...
