Wright fights in a totally different style to Mundine, if you saw the fight Mundine was much more aggressive than usual. I don't think Soliman recovered from the 1st knockdown & from there it was just a matter of time. I think Wright would out slick Mundine though.

It would be a great matchup in my opinion. I've always taken the line that Winky is overratted. Not disputing that he's a brilliant top level p4p fighter, he is, but he seems to have an almost God like status with most fans who just won't acknowledge any weakness.Originally Posted by galaxy76
He's got no punch on him. I don't care wehter it's becuase of his style or the fact that he prefers to outbox people it's still a fact that at 160 he's never stopped anybody. He was 1 knockout in the last 7 years!
And that to a guy who has since been knocked out 3 times and retired once.
He's also getting hit a whole lot more often now. He's not the unbeatable master boxer some make him out to be.
I'd fancy Mundine to pull an upset, although I wouldnt at all be suprised if Winky got a UD after all he is a p4p fighter. I reckon there are a good few fighters at 168 though who would have more than a fair chance against him. Kessler and Calzaghe I'd have as clear favourites.
I agree also Mundine lost to Soliman in the first fight, and Kessler didn't totally dominate Mundine who's speed gave Kessler understandably some troubles. Hell if Mundine would have opened up more I could have seen him winning that fight, but he was too cautious.Originally Posted by Brockton Bomber
side note Mundine is also way better than he was when he fought Kessler, and he is easily the best athlete at 168.

Soliman thinks he wins every fight. Someone needs to remind him that only punches that actually land are counted, not everything one throws. I'm suprised you aren't saying Soliman one last night too
I agree that Mundine could have won against Kessler. I think the cautiousness (is that a word?) is not there as much now which has helped Mundine improve a lot.

Jeah winky is getting hit more, but I think that's cause he chooses to, as stupid as that sounds, but he's being more agressive. Jeah he's got no pop, but shit imagine if he had pop to go along with his skills!!! Also winky fought most of his career at 154 so to say a 168er would batter him, shit he might as well there is a 14 pound difference there. Although I still think winky would pull out the win, not just on mundine but he'd have shots against kessler and perhaps even joe c. Jeah his next fight is at 170, that don't mean that that's where he should be at, I think he shoulda stuck around at 160.
mundine would crush winky wright.
Yep. And i doubt Winky, Taylor & co. will be lining up to face Mundine now.
I hope we see him fight either Taylor or Wright by years end. I think Kessler might be too big for him...though i wouldn't put it past choc.
After mundine fought kessler i thought his career was on a downer but since then he has looked focussed and almost obsessed and has put away two top quality opponents in soliman and green and made them both look second rate. I think he may be on the cusp of something special. He has ridiculous speed for his weight division and a great technique, a serious competitior for anyone now.
Agreed Preme a bit, but Winky is not a natural 154 lber, he was damn near as big as Taylor in there. Ouma is a natural SWW, Winky is a natural middleweight and 168 isn't a stretch imo.
I think Winky beats Kessler. Forward moving fighter with a great jab and a great defense, and counters out of the cage type defense better then anyone in boxing history imo. He never gets hit with a punch cleanly. He gets hit, but the notion that Winky is unhittable only came about after the Tito fight. It's never been that he's unhittable, it's that you just can't hit him cleanly.
And Kessler drops his hands after all of his punches and moves straight backwards when he backs up, just asking to be countered. Plus Winky has gotten hit so much recently because he has been facing an abundance of straight punchers. And straight punchers who can fire between the post have the most success against him. And then Soliman is just awkward as fuck but he still got dominated.
Winky beats Kessler imo. Joe C I'm not so sure and B-Hop I'm not so sure. But Kessler I would be comfortable in picking Winky. Especially in the underdog role.
