I'd take out Margarito and put in Hatton, but I feel people will still find some way to put down the fights and still hang on the fact that he didn't fight Margarito therefore he must be scared, 2+2= 672318461Originally Posted by sanchez786

And in case you don't know who Paul Spadafora is, here he is beating up Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Floyd claims he is in shape 24/7
LIAR!
Well,if he retires after Oscar,he is depriving his own legacy. Look at 147,look at how many great fighters there are to be made! Also,I'll bet $$$ that there will be a rematch with Oscar! Bilbo, you are waaaaaaaaay off with your thinking, just because Cotto did not roll over Urkal has no bearing on the Mayweather. Floyd has never and will never be hit to the body so hard.
i think floyd is telling porky pies again just to sell the fight even more. if he retires now then he is seriously deluding himself about his best fighter to ever lace up gloves shite that comes out with
Cotto is a try to hurt you real bad kind of boxer. PBF is the opposite - try not to get hurt real bad kind of boxer. Both are really good at what they do.
I like Cotto, but I think PBF would frustrate him.
There's never a good time to retire. Lennox even catches sh!t from people for retiring when he did. If I were Floyd I would retire after the DLH fight as well. Even if he were to stay and take out the fighters people want to see him take out, they'll always be someone else rise up next. It's neverending. I view Ray Robinson as the greatest of all time, and if Floyd were to beat DLH, Cotto, and Hatton, I'd STILL see Robinson as the greatest of all time. I like Floyd, but no matter who he beats, IMO it can't compare with the 100 plus victorys Robinson had. That being said, why stay around to add to a legacy when that legacy is seen differently from person to person? Boxing, like any professional sport, is hard, so why continue when you don't need to? The only answer someone can give to that is for legacy, and that's meaningless since there isn't an athlete in any sport who is unanimously hailed as the greatest of all time.
Floyd isn't going anywhere just yet, win or lose at the age of 30 he has a lot to prove and while there are still big fights to be had with Cotto, Mosley, Margarito or Hatton at 147 then he will fight on for at least another two years. If he beats DLH then he will cop flack for beating a guy 34, inactive and past his best.
If he loses he will say the weight was an issue, the guy is a legend and I bit off more than I could chew.
Mayweather would clean house at Welterweight and unify the title then he would have a genuine claim to being in the top 20 fighters of all time. Losing to DLH will not affect that standing.
He would be foolish to retire. $$$$$ still to be made.
He is in shape. He may not be in fighting shape but it's not like he's Ricky Hatton and that's who he's going after when he says that. Spads was less then a week away from a fight and Mayweather was just starting his training for the Castillo fight. Then Spadafora went out pushing that tape to anyone with a VCR like it meant anything. EVERYONE gets beat up in sparring. Everyone.Originally Posted by Danny_G

I think people are in for a big surprise if they think Floyd is coming back. He's done after this, and the reason I know this is because of the fact that he is not particularly well liked. Look at fighters who kept coming back, Leonard, Holyfield, Foreman, Trinidad etc. These are guys who were extrememly beloved by fans the world over, and it was just too difficult to walk away from those chants of your name and the love and respect you get when you're in the ring. Floyd doesn't have that. He's the best fighter in the sport and half the crowd walked out in the middle of his last fight. I think Oscar's highly overrated at the moment due to his substandard opposition he beat as of late, and I see Floyd winning the fight going away. Him losing would be the only way he would continue on, and that just isn't happening.

If Mayweather joined Golden Boy Promotions after this fight it would scream fix. I dont think they are that stupid....

its the only thing out there that would justify a retirement, imo (from mayweathers standpoint)
