As if you would stoop so low as to name those two cheaters in the same breath as Nasty Nick. That's a damned disgrace I tell you, and he was just playing the game.Originally Posted by bilbo
Got to love Nasty Nick! To be honest those mongs on that show deserved to fooled by him for as long as they were. I mean how the fuck did they believe he was in the army after watching him on the assualt course?Originally Posted by superheavyrhun
Well i think we all care. I believe that in boxing it is not as influential to the outcome whether one takes steroids or not because there is so much more involved in boxing to win at the highest level. It wouldn't matter how many steroids someone took if the fighter, their trainer, manager, promoter and family were not really interested in the fighter's wellbeing and success. Tyson is a great example of this. I also believe that Vargas vs De La Hoya is also evidence that true belief in ones-self, a good trainer and a stable group of people around a fighter (including family) at the highest level will make more of a difference than any chemicals can. It would be a shame if Holyfield was found to have been using them but it really can only accellerate the preparation and hopefully from what Tyson has said could not - thankfully - be something that can decide a fight at the highest level. But having said that if someone is found to have used them a suspension is the only conclusion.Originally Posted by bilbo

ive said this before and i'll say it again
1) evander was the smallest heavyweight champ of the last 25 years weighing around 205lbs in his prime even againest bowe
2) he was never a big hitter, often needed to hit a guy 10 - 15 times to stop him or ko
3) he was never fast nor athletic he was very easy to hit he couldn't move out the way of punchs
4) everyone loves the guy, everyone says he's a nice guy a real gentlemen very laid back even his ex wives still have affection for him non have said he was abusive or a ass to live with ( most guys on roids tent to becaome nasty and hit tempered)
so what kind of micky mouse roids was this guy on...................................
Its not a big deal to me. I'm not going to crucify Evander for something that the majority of boxers are probably doing. Like mentioned before drug tests mean little to nothing anymore. The fact that steroids are even an issue proves that, as guys obviously feel confident enough that they wont be caught to risk their careers and reputation using them. The harsh reality is that most of your favorite boxers of today have or are probably juicing.
Steroids do not win you world titles. I can't juice up and expect to knock out Wlad Klitchko. They do give fighters an (unfair) advantage, but for me its not going to dimish my opinion of Holyfield. I admire Holyfield because he was a warrior. He stood up to pain and punishment to make it to the top. He fought his heart out. Steroids don't give you heart, they don't allow you to take punches like they are nothing, and they dont allow you to win boxing matches unless there is a solid skill foundation underneath it.

One of the most common misconceptions regarding steroids/HGH is that their main effect is an increase in power. This simply isn't true. A fighter (or any athlete) doesn't take a performance-enhancer just to get bigger or stronger. The main benefit of a performance enhancer is how it helps your recovery time or stamina.Originally Posted by nuclear bull
Boxing is a grueling sport. Day after day of training, then on fight night, round after round of punishment. The main benefit of steroids/HGH would be the ability for the body to recover and be fresh for all the days of training and then the 12 rounds of fighting. It has nothing to do with KO power.
stamina is one effect yes, but power and speed is as well.
