So with a week to go...who wins Barrera or Marquez?

And I totally diagee on some of your points brother GAME,JMM can go to the trenches as he has shown against the tough tough Pacquiao,in his last 2 fights too.

When has Marquez had to show his true grit in a war ? He boxed Pac , he didnt fight him . Morales was a much better fighter than Marquez . I agree Marquez is a smoother technical boxer but when it comes down to who is the better fighter I have no doubt its Morales . Erik fought on even terms with Barrera not wanting to take a step back . He came off worse cuz his defence was too open but he wasnt scared of getting hit . Marquez has never struck me as that type of character who fights with that level of passion and intensity. Ive never really seen the devil in him and I know he beat a couple of nobodies with assertive boxing recently but its a huge step up to do the same to Barrera.

It comes natural to Barrera to fight , same with Erik. With Marquez it has been forced upon him cuz he wants to be more marketable . I reckon Barrera will do what Pac couldnt and thats beat Marquez but it will be a close good fight .

Im really pullin for Barrera because if he wins this fight, he will cement his legacy in boxing. I like how pissed Barrera gets when people dis him....lol he turns into a pitbull when you start talking shit about him. Marquez seems like hes got more left in him, but Barrera is going to pull it out, then hes going after Pacman If only Marquez would start talking crap, this would be in the bag.

This is such a tough fight to pick a winner for.

My initial instinct was to go with Marquez. I think he's fresher than Barrera and hasn't been in nearly as many wars. I thought Barrera looked old and worn out in the two Juarez fights.

But I can't feel that confident with picking Marquez because Barrera has proven me wrong way too many times over the years.

Normally I don't get caught up with intangibles, but part of me thinks that Marquez is simply a very good fighter, whereas Barrera is a very good fighter who can produce great performances when he needs them most.

A hard fight to pick. Both are master boxers. Both have shown tremendous heart. Both are approaching the end of their careers. And obviously both are Mexican. This is going to be a great fight. Having watched Barrera for so long, i have learned never to underestimate him. He just can get it down however he needs to...box, brawl, or both. And despite his calm exterior, the man has a nasty edge when he needs it. Marquez is technically brilliant and showed against Manny that he he has a lot of spirit. But i just feel Marco has proven too many times that he can rise to the big occasions. I'm picking Barrera by decision.

It is weird coz i have hardly heard anything about this fight at all! this could pan out to be the best fight of 07 uet hardly anyone is talking about it!

This is a fight that has been in the making for a looooooooooong long long time. I for one can't wait, this is the one fight that I would go see over Oscar vs Floyd. Should be a smoker.

Sweetpea, I gotta disagree with you about Marco looking worn out against Juarez. I actually don't think Barrera has received enough credit for his performances against Juarez. Remember, before their first fight, Marco had been preparing to fight Chavez at 135. When Chavez got injured, Marco had to refocus and adjust to fighting a new opponent. People can say what they want about Juarez, but the man is a young and very strong fighter. Barrera gutted out that first fight and showed his tremendous heart against a young up and comer. In the second fight he showed what an intelligent fighter he was. He didn't look worn out at all. He jabbed and danced beautifully. He showed how he can adjust from one fight to another...whereas Juarez obviously didn't.

Marquez by desision. no doubt that this is the hardest fight for me to pick a clear winner in, but after thinking it over its not that hard to pick Marquez. Marquez is hungrier for this victory, he is the superior boxer, doesn't look as shot as Barerra has befor and definitely hasn't been in wars like Barerra has. i know that Barerra always performs excellent when he needs to but i don't think he can't nor will against Marquez.

what sort of fight do you see come saturday? ive got a feeling barrera might try and play it smart. against marquez i dont think it will work and he will need to draw him into a brawl

Although not an exact science, the way PAC walk all over Barrera and how PAC struggled with Marquez gives me the idea it's not going to be a good night for the Baby Face Assasin. Marquez by UD!!!

I'ma go ahead and say marquez takes this one. I don't think it will have to do so much with barerra being shot as it will with marquez knowing that this perhaps is his last shot to prove that he is worthy of being listed with the likes of barerra, morales and pac. He didn't take the rematch with pac, instead took a shity payday to go fight john in indonesia and from what I've read got robbed, then had 2 solid fights, although against unknowns so this is make it or break it time for marquez. I also want him to win cause the fight I want to see most is a rematch between marquez and pac, and I don't think that's happening if jmm gets his ass whooped.
