Assuming Floyd beats Oscar, I make him a solid favorite to beat Shane.
Shane is fast, but not as fast as Floyd, and Floyd is much much more versatile.
I agree with the Cotto part...but I'd like Mosley to fight either Hatton/Cotto/Williams,etc..b4 seeing him take on PBF.I just wasnt convinced that after one good fight he is at that level again
But from Mosley's perspective, why would he fight one of those guys for less money and risk losing a bigger money fight with Floyd? It makes no business sense. He's already made that mistake once by fighting Winky and losing the chance to fight Tito. I don't see why he'd make the same mistake again.

Very good points Sweetpea. SSM has probably learnt from past experiences and he's not getting any younger.

i swear PBF only said he would retire to force oscar to hurry up and decide if he would fight him.

that would be a fantastic fight though. 2007 is an awesome year for boxing.
Um Mosley right now can't match PBF's speed at all.

i dunno about that mate. mosley has a lot more pop in his punches and is equal in speed to mayweather at welter weight. floyd at these higher weights has more tip tap point scoring punches compared to the lower weights where he had power. i really dont see any noticable difference in the speed of the two at 147 so if the two were to fight it would be more of a case of who would be first to the punch.

That statement would be true prime on prime. But at this point it's not.

I would have LOVED to see Mosley-Mayweather Jr around 135 or so

Back in 99 the fight would have been awesome. I favor Mosley in a UD but it would have been close.

I agree with you to an extent, and I also think he's saying he is going to retire to draw more pay perview buys, because people are going to want to see him fight especially if its his last one ya know. But I really don't think he's going to. He can't man if he's that concerned about his legacy then he can't retire because theres so many other fights out there that need to happen for him.

I had hoped mosley - mayweather had happened after mayweather beat baldomir. Mosley in his last fight looked great. I had thought he was the only one that could trouble mayweather. But with mosley sparring with oscar, think the oscar - floyd fight is a lot closer ta call.

I'd love to see Mosley - Mayweather, but I dunno if it will happen. To put it bluntly, i think Sugar Shane is the biggest threat out there too Floyd's undefeated record, he's the only guy out there slick enough and experienced enough to beat Mayweather at his own game. But I can just see Floyd fighting Cotto or Hatton instead, which present a much lesser risk to him and would probably be just as big fights. Risk-reward, Roy Jones made his whole career on it.

It's funny everyone is saying Mayweather's punches are just tip taps, yet before he injured his hand Baldomir along with everyone else have not been able to simply walk through his punches as Hagler did to Leonard. PBF still has the power to keep Mosley honest. I know Mosley has more power, but he does not have the speed he had in his prime. His first fight with ODLH I would say he was as fast or faster than PBF now, but even that doesn't change how I feel the fight would have turned out because Mayweather is a better fighter. But like Sovereign said Mosley is the biggest threat to Mayweather right now barring Wright being able to get back down to 154. Mosley though not as fast as Mayweather has more speed than any other guy who has a shot at Mayweather, and he has the power, and skills to make it a tough fight. I think Mosley is however to open defensively, and will lose.

Mosley is getting hit with straight shots again and pulls back with his hands down and not up anymore, a straight shooting fighter with some speed will take advantage, and Collazo did as well(before he "supposedly broke his hand") I think Mosley would be beaten by Floyd today.
