That's what they said about Chavez prior to their fight.
chavez was throwing single punches at whitaker and he was able to make chavez miss but pryor punches with both hands at same time and swarms you from opening bell i dont know if whitaker would cope with it
Chavez was throwing single punches because Whitaker would not allow combinations. You didn't actually think that was Chavez strategy did you? And another thing, I have never seen a boxer throw punches with both hands at the same time, and if they did it would not be effective, and it would make it pretty damn easy to counter you and KO you.
you know what i meant brazilianbomber i ment two fisted attack goes right for you straight away chavez isnt as quick as pryor either and he fights different to pryors swarming style

Considering that nobody destroyed Leonard in his prime including Hearns, Duran, Hagler etc I think this is a complete over statement.
No pryor was the man at his peak no boxer born could have beaten him at light welterweight.
    This man could

im one of whitakers biggest fans and he used to make people miss but he wouldnt be able to make a swarmer like pryor miss he would be all over whitaker like rash
De La Hoya was bigger and stronger than Prior and swarmed Pernell all night, and missed all night.
when did oscar swarm whitaker ?? pryor goes right at you oscar in whitaker fight is nowhere near as aggressive as pryor and whitaker hasnt got the punch to hold pryor off so i find it quite hard how he would survive
Oscar was the aggressor throughout the fight, you surely didn't think Pernell was the aggressor did you. That's called swarming your opponent. And if Pernell had the tools to stand in their with Oscar, Tito, Chavez he sure in the hell can stand in there with Prior.
oscar was aggressor but he wasnt *swarming* whitaker maybe the aggressor but certainly not swarming theres difference to being aggressive and smothering your opponent with swarming style

Leonard would have beaten him imo., though it would have been a great fight. As far as Pernel though, there's no chance Pryor could beat him, as good as he was he didn't have the style whatsoever I think your off on this one Ice cold... His swarming would only serve him worse against Whittaker who thrived off that kind of opponent.

if Sugar Ray could beat Hearns and Duran, and let's say Hagler too, then why not Pryor?

i am watching arguello-pryor on youtube just now, with Leonard as color commentator, and the announcer (Tompkins I think), says, "Pryor is showing that quasi bolo punch that Pryor says Leonard stole from him." Leonard responds in a surprised, rhetorical tone, "I stole from him?!"

yes but whitaker never faced anyone as aggressive and swarmer like pryor you have good point thats fair enough im just saying that he would smother him and be all over whitaker like rash and pryor would have no respect for whitakers power because he isnt hard hitter plus pryor is very quick handed i think he would have great chance against whitaker imo bro

Noone Whittaker ever fought had respect for his power. And that only lead to their digging a deeper whole for themselves, getting further and further behind on the cards, because they grew extremely frustrated and fought more and more recklessly, trying to land a big shot and hurt him. I know that there is no way in hell Whittaker could have ever hurt Pryor, but Sweet P had a hell of a chin himself, not that he ever really even needed it in his prime, and I think he'd just wear Pryor out and become more and more dominant with every round. Not to say Pryor wasn't a great fighter but he could be outboxed and I think Whittaker had just the tools to beat him convincingly.

It still amazes me that this fight never happened, Pryor chose not to move up to 147lb in what certainly would have been a huge payday for him. If Duran in 1980 couldn't stop him and Hearns 18 months later then i doubt Pryor would have. SRL by decision in a great fight, I love Pryor though.

i dont think pryor would have destroyed leonard but i do agree with seanie i find it hard for anyone to beat prime aaron pryor at light welter
Yeah, I think the weight would be the biggest factor. anything higher than LTWW would have to go to Leonard. But at LTWW? Pryor was a BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!
It feels good to be back home.

With the misterious substance he took against Arguello?? Of course, he would even beat Superman that way. If Pryor doesn't cheat, then it would be a great fight with Leonard winning.

This is silly mate Pryor always had energy like that bottle or no bottle i mean in rematch with Arguello he beat him even worse and in less time and that was without the bottle which no one knows for certain it was any substance never proven im not ruling it out im just saying there was no proof but only thing that is starnge is way he said gimme that bottle i mixed which is strange and its 50/50 but im not sure.

But all im saying is that he always had amazing stamina even without the bottle.

Pryor was a savage in the ring, Him and Sugar had the chance to fight but this fight didn't take place by accident. Sugar didn't want to fight him because he know it would have been hawk time all over his ass.
