Haye v Mormeck

Mormeck typically has an issue with tiring out in the last few rounds.

Haye has the same problem.

Thing is, I think Mormeck will be able to avoid Haye's power for the first 8-9 rounds, and he would be far ahead on the cards, the Haye would turn it around with some big shots in the Championship rounds.

Mormeck has a gret chin and is too solid a fighter to get kod by Haye. Mormeck is the stonger of the two and would outhustle him maybe stop him

now I know that Mormeck is experienced and has a solid chin, but can you honestly tell me that ANYONE in ANY weight division can deal with Haye's power? When he lands 'em right, they're outta there. He could knock out anyone on his day, on the strength of that alone I'd give him a chance at ANY of the heavyweight titlists. He's one of the biggest and most naturally devastating punchers I've ever seen. When you have a fighter like Haye, who's fast and got genuine knockout power, your only ever one punch away from victory.

As a boxer he's got better over his last few fights, but Mormeck still has the advantage here. Mormeck can dig a bit, but he has nothing like Haye's power, if he got into a brawl with Haye eventually he'd get stopped. He'd have to outbox Haye, use the ring and dance around, tire Haye out that way before coming on strong later in the fight.

I think Haye can do it. Looking forward to the Bonin fight also, wanna see how his power carries at heavyweight.

Good post but i dont aggree .

Haye is a big hitter when his feet are planted and he's got time but what about when he is hustled like he was in his last fight?

He looked pretty desperate against a fighter regarded as a test at European level.

Can Haye fight going backwards ? Can he punch hard when he has no momentum is tired and off balance ?

His last fight proved nothing it failed to answer alot of questions ( worringly) he proved that he could find some power but it was along way from convincing and even his biggest fans know its true .

He looked good but the people standing beside me started to bite their nails and look at each other with worried faces .

I think he needs to be moved slowly , yes he can beat Mormeck but is he gonna reign long and true or is he going to burn out ?

thats just one fight i know and he has time but you have the Mock , Thompson and Abdullah fights as well .

Can he unlock a tight defence can he take it on the Chin ?

Needs to be moved slowly its a whirlwind alot of people are getting carried away cos he can bang , thats not enough at world level at least its not enough to reign at world level

Im retracting my statement somewhat (Just seen Bell v Mormeck)
BIG ask for Haye to beat him and i still think he needs more rounds before but seeing as he's sparked so many so fast and shot up to Mandatory position he simply can't avoid this fight.
he'll need all his skills to win but has done well against Bullish fighters in the past,great fight though.

I hear what your saying bro, loud and clear, I'm a big Haye fan but his faults are there for all to see. His chin isn't great, his hands are too low, he's too cocky, but I still think he's the real deal. He will get beaten again, no doubt about it, but I think he's also got it in him to beat some big names. I'd pick him over Shannon Briggs tomorrow. Thats just david haye. He's a risk taker, sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. Is there any other heavyweight/cruiserweight prospect who's shown the same willingness to take hard fights early on in his career as David Haye? I don't think so.

To be fair I think a lot of those questions that you put up where answered in the last fight. I don't know where Fragomeni came from but he looked tough and made it competetive. He was fighting on the back foot at times as Fragomeni stalked him, he didn't have things all his own way. Haye had to dig deep, hold his nerve and show a lot of discipline to get through it like he did. He was facing a man who wasn't going to roll over as soon as he got hit by a hayemaker, and Haye had to grit it out and showed a lot of heart to me. And discipline. Thats the exact sort of discipline that he didn't have when he got beat by Carl Thompson, and I think losing back then helped him focus on the weak aspects of his game rather than just the power-punching side of it. If he keeps improving I think that he could make noise at Heavyweight. There's no-one else out there as exciting as him, I tell you that much. Apart from Povetkin.

That Fragomeni guy was undefeated, had already beaten Haye in the ams, seemed as tough as old boots and came to win, so I'm not to worried bout the fact he gave Haye early trouble. I'm looking forward to the Bonin fight coz I want to see how he deals with a proper heavyweight. If he can dispatch Bonin then he can take out Mormeck i reckon. cc mate

The Bonin fight will do Haye some good but he did lose in nine rounds to one Audley Harrison

The fight on Tv was way different from the one i saw in the hall , Haye at times looked like he was sagging and i remember thinking ,shit not good not good .

Granted the Italian was tough and busy and wasn't going to lie down but at times he just seemed to outman Haye and i was standing there thinking shit what if he's in with an O'Neil Bell or Cunningham guys who can counter him or a Mormeck who can manhandle him .

these fighters will have him making mistakes at times , how will David respond when met with real crisis ?

He's exciting , but British Boxing history is full of fighters who could do the Business at European Level and couldnt grow into world class fighters .

Brit fighters who get bandged out dont get world class sparring and find it hard to come again id hate to see that Happen to Haye cos he has alot of attention and has alot of Charisma , just dont wanna see him rushed .

yeah I agree, give a him a few years, he's not that old he's still got room for improvement. When he's edging 30 and matured into heavyweight I can see him being a great fighter. But your right he needs to go over the atlantic and get some quality sparring with the best American heavy's if he wants to make it anywhere, he'll stagnate if he stays in the uk. Like you say, there's been a lot of quality UK prospects over the years who never reached world-class level coz they were didn't get to spar with americans, so ultimately when they challenged for titles against predominantly american fighters they were found out. Imagine if Herbie Hide had been trained by someone good over in the USA? Can you imagine how good Audley could've been if he'd turned pro with Manny Steward and sparred with Lennox? I don't wanna see David Haye go down that direction, coz he could be a legitimate superstar in a few years if he wins the cruiserweight title and goes on to do well at heavyweight. He's charismatic and the with the way the he fights he has real mainstream appeal, I wouldn't wanna see him fuck it up by not sparring with the very best. I heard on the commentary to one of his fights that he's had wars in sparring with Kelvin Davis, which I think is a good sign and a step in the right driection.

If he gets his title shot this year and wins, which is entirely possible, d'ya reckon he should defend it or move straight to heavyweight? The guy is physically a heavyweight and not a small one either, 230lbs +, so making 200lbs is gonna start to hurt soon. He could stick around, fight O'Neil Bell, Vadim Tokarev, Enzo Mac, or move straight up and start going for the WBC title. He could beat Sinan Samil Sam and Sam's 2nd behind Sam Peter in the WBC rankings, Oliver McCall's 4th so a victory over someone of that calibre would put him right up there for a title shot. Is it too soon for those kinda guys or can David step it up?

We all have an opinion Sov but to be honest he has got to know his own mind and have his own focus i think he could be a real player if he settled down stopped looking for the early knockout .

He has shown maturity in some aspects and its hard not too be in love with your power but he has glaring technical flaws and they need work otherwise he will come undone .

I know some believe quality sparring is the be all and the end all but some fighters are different some like to spar alot and some a little so as far as your question goes im not sure .

I dont see the point in having wars in the Gym never have you can do more than enough damage in the gym sparring , look at Gerald McClelland .

There is just no point in having Adam Smith wet his pants over you at European level and then cop one on the world scene ala Lennox.

Its tentative he has some really good attributes but some things need addressing.

Then again pushing 30 it might be too late , motorisation and years of reflex cant be undone ina few intense training sessions but he could just learn to be patient .
