Oh i have seen the eubank fight..Puts chris down in the first with a very snappy crack..
But thats a past prime chris eubank.. I cant say he's ever banged out a very good fighter.. a prospect and a past prime hall of famer is good.. and when hes in a ring in front of you he'll let you know what he's made of.. But its wasted talent in all fairness..
But howd he manage to shag his hands against either less then parr oppositions or brick walls when his ex wife was taking a pretty penny?!
Its all a bit strange to me.. if he looses and people start reppin' hes shot i'll go crazy...
Hes pretty much tarver...
38 with under 30 pro fights keeps tarver fresh.. And 40 odd fights against lackluster competition ought to maintain joe's snap.. but i just cant see it

I was told by a few people including his ex manager that until he was 19 he never wore handwraps even in the gym

A boxer doesnt lose power unless hes weight drained or has lost speed. Calzaghe is neither. He just seems content to score points and stay busy. Kind of like Maxie Rosenbloom did.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
The Calzaghe that beat Eubank threw punches like he was wielding an axe , was so strong and powerful.
Now he doesnt throw punches correctly "slaps" againest Manfredo it was emarrassing i was shouting at the tv "ROOM" move back and give yourself room to punch , i thought his flurry was so poor i was cringing at what the American press must have thought![]()
It may well be because of bad hands no sure , but if he lets Warren choose oponants for him he doesnt need to improve his performances![]()
I think now when i watch Calzaghe throw punches and he's throwing loads of them slaps he looks like a kid who is panicing and just throwing his arms he looks pathetic

Calzaghe caught Peter with two nice body shots just before the flurry began.
He later goes on to tell Larry Merchant that Calzaghe's pitter pat slaps were those of an amateur. If that was the case then why was Peter being overwhellmed? Calzaghe hit Peter enough times with some decent power shots and thus gaining respect. Peter tasted one nice shot to the kisser and then the fight changed and Peter went into help me Jesus mode.
I was able to decompile the audio and I know why the fight was stopped.
When Peter was what looked like he was covering up and trying to avoid the flurry? That is not what was happening at all. He was praying. I could hear him praying and I heard him say HELP me JESUS! make the flurry stop! PLEASE MAKE IT STOP! The ref obviously heard this too and he stopped the beating.
Peter's people made some very stupid business decisions. Money wise? Ok that was the smart thing. But Peter's mistake was that he did not even know who Calzaghe was until after he signed the fight deal and Peter has no experience against South Paws and Peter does terrible against fighters who slap and or unload with flurries. Just ask Mora
Does Calzaghe still have pop? You bet! He could have taken out Peter in the first round with power shots and flurries. The one who was robbed in this fight was Calzaghe but to be honest, Calzaghe does not need an inexperienced reality tv fighter to look impressive. Peter was just a tool. Calzaghe needs a big fight against a much bigger name so he can demostrate his qualities.
Calzaghe beating Manfredo Jr. is like one of us trying to impress people by racing a handicaped child in a footrace. I understand why he took this fight. Now let's move on and fight some one who is worthy of that title shot and not some club fighter. I want to see Taylor vs Calzaghe. I prefer this overseas and hopefully in the same stadium in CardiffThem fans are the best. I don't think Taylor has the balls to travel the only two men who were brave enough or stupid enough were Lacy and Manfredo
I don't think any other American is willing to do the same. I hope Calzaghe comes to America. It would be huge. I seriously doubt he will though. Why should he? He is the champ. Does money talk? Sure it does but just how loud is the money speaking to Calzaghe? It has to be speaking loud and crystal clear. I guess time will tell all.

But isn't that slapping type technique damaging his hands even more? I mean they must take a toll on his wrists!!!
not sure that it would damage his hands more, but it is an inbuilt reflex action,it is his knuckles and the tendons behind them that get hurt.this would make a mental block to hitting with the 'face' of the fist.this sis hard to get round and is not a conscious decision by joeOriginally Posted by El Gamo

If you look at the last flurry on Mafredo he started with good punches getting through the he was definatly slapping down on the back of his head . Then the ref stopped it. I think I was hurt more than Manfredo because I ate to much pizza.![]()

Power is power.. And a case could be made that joe has some power..But he is not 'powerful' is what i am getting at.

I thought this in both the Lacy and the Manfredo fight. Despite stopping Manfredo, to me he didnt look in too much pain when the ref pulled him out of there and alot of his punches looked like softer slap punches. Maybe i cant comment seeing as i havent been hit by one myself!
