I think it should be it, 147's not really right for him, can't make 140 and he's taken a lot of punches.

He's never been a favorite of mine really, but I think sometimes his career has been underestimated. Yes he's easy to hit, and been a bit chinny at times, the fact is he's beaten two of the best fighters of the past decade in Castillo and Casamayor. You can debate whether he actually beat Casamayor in any of their fights but it wasn't like Casamayor got robbed in the second fight, most people thought Chico won it. He's clearly a Hall of Famer.

Definitely agree. Gary Shaw said in an interview that Chico's trainer had some (obviously wrong) idea that Clottey was slow and that they'd be able to outspeed him. Without referencing that specifically, Chico did say in the post-fight interview that he was surprised early on at how fast Clottey was and that that's why he gave up on fighting on the outside.

The most crazy thing to me was that Clottey came into the ring at 170 (I mean, he said afterward that that was with all his clothes and shoes on, etc., but still -- that's nuts, isn't it? especially for Chico's first fight up from 135).

I want Corrales - Gatti. Honestly I think that is a match that I want made almost more then any other because we're guaranteed nothing other then a great fight.

Well...that'd be an attrocity. Why do people want to even see Gatti continue? I just don't get it. That fight would best be called what it is..."The Last March of the Sacrificial Lambs"!

Clottey is very good though. Especially on the inside on the outside he isn't that good and tends to open up to much but Clottey is the real deal and I think he'll be a champion one day. Very fast on the inside, fairly good defense on the inside and he can take a punch. His bout with Gutierrez was very entertaining except for the fact that there wasn't much drama to it and Clottey won clearly (who scored it a draw I don't know, but it was 116-112 at best imo) but it was a good slugfest.

Clottey is good. Very impressive wins of late...personally...I think that he was hammering Margarito quite well. Too bad his hands couldn't hold out for the duration.

I think Corrales' run as a champion of any sort is clearly over, but he is a matchmaker's dream because he's a guy who can't be in a bad fight. I really want to see him and Gatti go at it in Atlantic City. Both have fought a lot there, and now they find themselves at the same weight class. I hope it happens.

I agree...his runs over...but so is Gatti's. To me...Gatti has always been nothing more than a glorified journeyman. I just can't root for a man who's most impressive bouts are basically beatdowns that he has taken.

Well, you know both are going to fight on anyways. The very fact that hCorrales headed to 147 and fought one of the most dangerous welterweights out there is a pretty clear indication of that. And it would be an exciting fight, neither fighter would be to hurt as neither has much power, not as hurt as they would be if they continue to stick around fighting on TV. I mean most anybody would line up to fight the both of them because they are a big name and you have a good shot of beating them. It wouldn't be any worse then that, and it would be a nice note for both to go out on (hopefully.)

And I have a bit of a problem with the last bit. Gatti isn't famous for taking ass whoopings. Tex Cobb is. Gatti may not have had the best defense and he took his fair share of punishment but outside of De La Hoya and Mayweather, he has always been competitive, he's just an exciting fighter and that's what he's famous for. If he just took ass whoopings he would have never fought back which is something he has always does.

No doubt both of them are at least 2 years from their best but that doesn't mean it's attrocious to let them get in the ring together. I mean Gatti wants Cotto! And in Atlantic City, where both fighters have a dedicated fanbase, that could damn near happen. This is a much better alternitive.

As you so noted…Oscar & Floyd kicked his ass…soundly. Sorry…but if you think that he was competitive against Baldomir, Manfredy, & Robinson…I gotta say you need to watch those beat downs again.

He got his ass handed to him & how. Gatti's a glorified club fighter...always has been...always will be.

It's sad to see Chico at the end, but he's definately there. Just look at his body. He looked soft. He didn't add muscle to move up, he just didn't cut as much. He can hand around if he wants, but I hope he calls it a day. I don't want to see him fight Gatti. I've seen Gatti in enough wars that I don't need be entertained at his expense anymore, either. Chico and Gatti two of my favorite fighter and I hope I never see them fight again. They both should have piles of money by now . Chico went to culinary school. He can take some of that money and open a nice restaurant. Seriously.

Corrales doesn't have many options to fight at welterweight where he can honestly be a favorite. A fight vs Judah would be decent. Arturo Gatti would be a good fight for the viewers....may be too tough for both of those guys though

Coming into the fight I thought Corrales was going to be a monster at welter, especially cuz he came in at 160lbs. The thing is Clottey came in at 170lbs. Clottey is the real deal at this weight guys, he proved it against Margarito. Well anywayz, back to Chico. He was slow, still doesn't have the whiskers and he could not win with a "boxing" style. He's a slugger and he cannot compete with that style at 147. At least not against real welters who can bang i.e., Cintron, Mosley, Margarito, Cotto, or Oscar (I'm still dreaming of him coming back to welter). He may have a chance against those smaller welters like Judah, Gatti or PBF but not the true welters, he just aint got the beard to hang. Given that, no I don't think he's done, he can go down to 140 and provide some real excitement and be very competative at that weight. I'd love to see a shootout between him and Vivian Harris or how about ooooooo fights with Witter or Kendall Holt. You also have Castillo or Hatton. He aint done, he just needs to go down, 140 is where it's at for him.
