yea he did, thats why I laugh at the ignorance, when people call him a has been and say he got a gift, when he basically fought 7 rounds without his left hand his money punch... Furthermore Tyspko was catching Lacy with the right hand over and over, because he couldnt effectively defend with his left... he has had surgery and they say the injury might be career threatening

Again Jeff fought with tremendous pain and one arm for 7 rounds

Show me a Boxer in the game today that has exhibited as much heart as Jeff Lacy besides Evander Holyfield

Nice choice...... # 785 Diego is a fav of mine, suprised I didnt think of him..... Its just a rotator tear to a Boxer is like a Hamstring tear to a marathon runner... Now imagine you keep running another 15 miles and finish the race

back and agree with what you said im not Lacy hater at all people always forget that he had bad injury in that Tsypko fight and still managed to win against tough hungry fighter.

i know everyone is preeching that lacy was over rated all along, but i think he is quite underrated now. i still expect him to do alright. but he needs to sort his head out.
I think you're right, that if anything Lacy is probably underrated by now. It's just that at the time of the Calzaghe fight he was so hugely overrated that it's still difficult to find and settle at a realistic estimation of his potential.
I expect an injury free Lacy today is among the top 3-5 SMW's. As it stands i'd have Kessler, Calzaghe AND Mundine ahead. A guy like Bute could be close, but needs to prove it. That's it really. General talk today would suggest Lacy is completely done for and should hardly ever had been rated top 10. Don't agree with that.
I've certainly done my part of bashing Lacy. But keep in mind, that what i was objecting to was neither Lacy as a person/fighter or him being ranked inside top 5. What i was objecting to was the image portraid by some, that Lacy was a universally recognized no 1 at SMW untill Calzaghe got to him - that is the part that was IMO pure BS hype.
Ring mag had it pretty accurate from day one IMO (Lacy behind both Calzaghe and Kessler all the way).

Being a huge Lacy fan, I guess in hindsight I could agree with that at the moment..... The problem is the Tyspko fight didt give us an indepth look into Jeff to see if he made any improvements with his Boxing Skill or defense... He was owning Tyspko until the 3rd round when he got injured, and basically went into survival mode and gutted out a win with little or no use of the left, offenively or defensevily.
