Disagree.
Aaron Pryor would have Ko'd him...
Disagree.
Leonard would have beat him,,Hearns
I agree here. Keep in mind, Leonard and Hearns were both naturally much bigger than Floyd. They started at 147, before going to 154, 160, 168, etc. I could see them beating Floyd at 147, because both were great fighters, and they were much bigger. Hearns was very tall and rangy for a welterweight.
Great fighter, but I think Floyd could outbox him. Great fight though.
Whitaker is much younger than these other guys. His prime was '89-'95. I think Whitaker is a better fighter than Floyd, but it's hardly a washout. It would be a close fight.
All in all, if Floyd fought in the 1980s, or any other decade, would there be fighters who could possibly beat him? Sure.
But he would be among the PFP best in boxing at any given time period. He wouldn't have been "just any fighter," which is what you stated in your original post. He would've been considered as one of the top fighters in the sport, whether it was 1995, 1985, 1965, etc.
