I don't think that Roach has what it takes to make a whole turnaround and make DLH beat Floyd but he will come in handy if Oscar decides to fight Floyd like Castillo did.

Roach is the best trainer around. He has trained some of the best ever to tape up an strap em on. And a turn around from what. His last fight I belive was Carlos Meyorga. That was a knock out.Originally Posted by Daim

Roach is one of the best trainers, but Oscar's win against Mayorga was less than impressive. If you can't beat a guy who is made for you, you should quit boxing. Getting the KO was a nice touch agreed, but whoever bet on Mayorga needs their head checked.Originally Posted by southakron314

Everyone should have known that he was going to beat Mayorga but there were more than a few saying that DLH was going to get beat
wow.....why does this even come into question?.....if a guys a rapist, convict or drug dealer/addict does it affect his fighting?...boxing has had plenty of people that are different.......honestly....the h8ers need to back off....Originally Posted by dezmundo1983

Yet he can't teach a guy to stop lunging and bouncing into punches.Originally Posted by THE Bigragu
Do people think Roach is going to "teach" De la Hoya a ton of new stuff? Roach is there to motivate. Oscar has been in the game long enough to know what he needs to do. He simply needed a trainer who was going to keep him sharp and NOT be a distraction....like Floyd Sr.
thats funny... roger mayweather cant teach floyd to fight like a manOriginally Posted by Olympian904

Thats funny...he is undefeated...a multi-weight champ...p4p #1(has been on the p4p list for almost 10 years)...dominated nearly every opponent...lifetime record sits at 121-6...BUT like you said...he obviously fights like a girl.Just ask the 37 opponents and Oscar on May 5th.Originally Posted by josef4334
Olympian, don't waste your time and energy in this type of argument. Trust me, I've tried many times as well. There are people on this board who will never grasp the fact that boxing isn't about standing flat-footed and trading big shots, it's about finding a way to win based on your strengths and your opponent's weaknesses.Originally Posted by Olympian904
Some people will always label finesse boxing as "fighting like a girl." They're the ones missing out.
This guy probably thinks Willie Pep fought like a girl too.
