Yea you really can knock about 50 guys off Chavez record, he fought a whole lot of nobodies, even after he was an established star he was fighting guys with under 5 fights..

Oscar has not had near as many fights or wars as Chavez had by that time, so no I don't think its the same situation. But I do think its a similiar situation. Oscar had fun beating up on an OLD Chavez, an OLD Paez, an OLD Camacho, now its his turn to face the new up and coming phenom, now its his turn to get beat up. Least I hope so.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

I'll say it again Oscar Del La Hoya would have never beat Julio Chavez in his boxing prime never because of the way he would come get you with his punching power the type that break bone just ask Mildrick Taylor or the ref who was Richard Steel that night. There was a difference in punching power hudge difference watch that fight over before the Oscar vs Floyd fight and you wont see those type of punches in this fight I dont think. If so someone will be ruined that night and it will be niticed within a year or so after that fight! Oscar new just when to target Chavez but Julio thought he was un stopable at that time he was on a row with ladies family problems his sparring partner was shot down sitting right next to him at a hometown Restrent just a couble weeks before that fight because mobs were trying to move in on him he had lots on his mind that night besides Oscar when they met! But clear minded no way would Chavez lose to Oscar! In there second fight Julio went 8 rounds against Oscar almost taking Oscar out in the third round of that fight who weighed almost 160lbs to Chavez 140lbs. Even weighted no way Julio loses to Oscar! ! !

Difference is that Oscar was the bigger faster guy at the time, and Floyd is not in Oscar's shoes then since Oscar was inexperienced then. Floyd has fought some good competition in the last 10 years. Totally different fight. The issue is the size of Oscar. That is everything. On another post they had Duran saying Oscar will win, at least I think he said that.. Something about Floyd getting cut. I am not too sure about that, but hearing Duran say Oscar can win makes me wonder. yet my instincts tell me Floyd will win a decision..

Anyways, many people believe that Chavez was far removed from his prime when he fought Oscar. The fact is he was the same age as Oscar is now and he only had one loss, a SD to Frankie Randall. Chavez did have many wars, probably more than Oscar, but he get old overnight and lost to ther younger faster fighter. PBF has not had a punishing career at all so I consider him much younger than Oscar even though he may not be as young as Oscar was when he fought Chavez. Oscar wasnt a huge favorite to beat Chavez either, but he did fairly easily. Im pullin for Oscar but I can help thinking he may have the same fate of Chavez.
Chavez was the product of good management (Fighting mostly bums and hand picked opponents)....I don't put him on ODLH's level......in what is arguably Chavez's greatest fight/win he was losing handily......got the lucky stoppage...

CC #386 bro....most people just look at the record...not what's in the record....and Chavez's record read like the great novel "Bum City".....

Just curiously, what made it "lucky"?
A knockout is a knockout regardless of when it happens. It wasn't like he knocked out Taylor with one shot.
He was unquestionably losing the fight, but he beat Taylor. Physically, beat him down.
    Nothing lucky about it.

Although chevez's record is more padded than most nd i think it was wrong to send people with that sort of record into the ring with him (even though he was knocking out champions) he still did beat plenty of gd fighters aswell nd although i do think oscar is a class boxer hes lost to the best 3 fighters hes faced nd i think he needs to beat mayweather to be up there with chavez nd i dont give him much credit for beating an old chavez nd camacho so i think he needs to beat floyd.

LOL. Funniest post I've ever seen.

Oscar is in no way close to Chavez. Chavez beat the best from 130 through 140 what more do you want? Oscar was just a pussy who only fought people after Tito knocked them out. The fact is Chavez never ducked anyone, and fought the best. Sure he fought bums in between to make some pocket change but who cares? As long as he didnt duck the top fighters then theres no reason to hate. Chavez beat way more top fighters than Delahoya. If you cant see that then you dont know anything about boxing from the late 80's to early 90's.

Oscar is a fag who isnt even deserving to wipe Chavez' package after he takes a piss.

I never thought Chavez was overrated. No way. Look those Tijuana Taxi drivers as Haugen said were not that great, but if you look at their records, the top guys they fought other than Chavez would go the distance with them, and Chavez wiped them out. Chavez stayed in shape and would fight guys like that and beat them easily. I think it made him a much better fighter. Whoever said Chavez was overrated I cannot disagree with you more. The man used a nice defense and foot positioning to dominate opponents and not be hit with clean punches, and he was a strong physical guy also. Chavez reminded me of Hagler he just did not fight southpaw or have the punching power of Hagler, but he was that style. jab pressure and eventually take over and eventually he takes over the fight with more and more domination. Overrated no way. Look how he took Haugen and made him look like 3rd rate fighter. He demolished Greg. And all respect to Greg, but Haugen was easily beat and no one easily beat Greg.
