15 round sno question in my mind.

I hate the fact we have 12 rounds that half can be won by each and result in a draw, seems stupid from the get go.

The level of fittnes in a boxer these days or, a champion is or should be to such a level that 15 rounds would not be a problem. IUt would stop odl past it fighters sticking around for longer than they should as the extra rounds could/would be to much for them.

With a good ref, and corner i doubt any boxer would suffer from a 15 round fight. Two of the worst and most 'famous' health incidents in boxing have come in 12 round fights (g-man/watson)

15 round fights would cut the shit out in boxing IMO - no more of this ricky hatton going up and down in weight, coz everyone will agree had it been a 15 round fight with collazo ricky would of been sparked out... and he isn;t the only, Taylor would of certainly lost to winky IMO had it been a 15 round fight.

Bring back 15 round fights and these champs who are half assing their performances will get fucking beat resulting in all true champions and boxers maintaing a high level of fittnes and most likely when injury free fighting more.

I agree entirely, 15 round fights need to be brought back in order for boxing to maintain it's position as the premier martial art combat sport.

12 round fights are just too short. No real champions will ever be created when they only have 12 rounds to survive. There will always be question marks over current champions as to whether they could have hung with the big boys in 15 round fights.

Personally I think most of the current lot would get their asses kicked if they fought 20 years ago. Mostly a bunch of pussies fighting today.

13, 14 and 15 are the championship rounds. It's what seperates the men from the boys.

IceCold, this is what I would have said. 12-15 rounds does seem to be the point where alot of fighters fatigue and make mistakes and fade and another guy comes on.

15 rounds means probably TWICE the strategy needed. If your going to 15 rounds, you better have something over your opponent in those last 2 or 3.
Seperates the men from the boys is perfect!

Twelve rounds--15 rounds----Those three rounds do make a difference....They will always favor the guy with the bset cardio.....

    Here is something crazy......

I have a boxing encyclopedia that talks about a fight back in the late or middle 1800's I think it was (I would have to look it up again) where two guys fought for 24 hours....The actually took a break after like 17 or 18 hours so the fans could sleep then resumed the fight in the morning!!!

Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!

Yep thats how Ali used to win because he always had little bit extra than the other guy in 13 14 and 15.

This is probably the millionth time in the last month this fight has been used as an example, but floyd and oscar only really started swinging at the END of the 12th. They could have easy danced around for another 3 rounds.

My point being, some fights where the slug it out for 12 'rounds like Barrera v Morales, or Castillo v Coralles,,, the 12 rounds was all that was needed and we should have been able to pick a winner by the end of those...

But with some of the stick and move/don't get hit fights we've seen, the fights have barely started by the 12 'round,,, and they definetly should go another 3 to go....

In my opinion 15 is the ONLY way to do it...

A 12 rd fight leaves too many if's. 15 rounders would make a difference in some cases a big difference, hell it would cut down on alot of these draws.

lets put it this way, if all the fights in the past were 12 rounders, no one here would know who the hell marciano was.
