    Round 7:

Oakey again with that jab. Sparacus isn't protecting his head enugh. Hard right from Spartacus. Oakey flurry with three jabs then a right hook this time. Spartacus seems to be out by himself there tonight. Just one guy saying "I am Spartacus". Oakey has dominated and is throwing body shots, jabs and hooks with token punches coming back. Nice short right from Spartacus. Hard right from Oakey, and Spartacus lolls back on the ropes with gloves down. Body shot and a hook from Spartacus. Two Spartacus jabs returns in kind from Oakey. Hook to the body from Spartacus.

    Oakey 70-63

    Round 8:

Spartacus with some looping hooks, but Oakey is spurred in with two jabs then two hard body shots. Spartacus jabs, then Oakey lands hooks and body shots. Spartacus still trying to figure this out. Oakey with jabs then a good cross. Big right from Spartacus rattles Oakey, but he gets right back in ther with jabs and a body shot. Jab hook from Oakey. Spartacus digs a left to the body, but Oakey comes back with a flurry of jabs again. Spartacus looks to piun Oakey in the corner, landing a decent hook, but Oakey swivels out, with some overhand rights of his own.

Oakey at a shutout at the moment.

    Round 9:

Good uppercut from Spartacus but Oakey is pinging in the jabs. Spartacus picking it up, with a hard left, then a hook. Oakey sends some hooks back, but Spartacus lands a pair of his own hard shots. Ref warns them both for clash of heads. Good right from Oakey, and Spartacus is looking exhausted now, and Oakey lands some more hooks, and the jabs still peppering in. Body shot from Spartacus, but Oakey piuns him back on the ropes with body shots. Spartacus lands a low blow, but then two hooks, and Oakey swivels and now Spartacus on the ropes wioth hooks and body shots from Oakey. Spartacus is walking in, hands low, looking for a bingo punch now.

Spartacus edges that one for me, cause that flurry at the start had Oakey really worried.

    Round 10:

Spartacus' jab is falling short, as Oakey stays out of reange, before coming in with some jabs then a hook. Spartacus looks to launch some swinging uppercuts, but misses out twice. Oakey still working hard, and each jab now pushing that Spartacus head back. LEft hook then a right swing lands for Oakey. Body shots from Oakey,, but you can see why there's only 5 KOs on the record. Oakey not rattling Spartacus too much. Oakey's jabs and hooks are getting through too often now, but Spartacus looks tirred but resilient. Overhand right from Oakey, then two good jabs. Good left hook from Oakey.

    Round 11:

If Oakey doens't get KOd, then it would be the biggest travesty for Spartacus to win. Spartacus with a decent straight right. Uppercut then a hook from Spartacus, but Oakey is still jabbing and throwing straight rights back at him. Spartacus backs off. Two body shots from Oakey, and Spartacus is not standing and taking it any more. Spartacus with two hooks up top, but Oakey return with four shots before going to the body. Oakey lands three jabs then a hook as Spartacus finds the ropes at his back. Decent right hand, but Spartacus clinches now, he's gtaken everything. Oakey's jabs and hook lands again, but Spartacus grits his teeth, then lands a dig to the body. Spartacus digs in two body shots, but Oakey bangs out a right hook then a jab at the bell. Fantastic round of entertainment, if not technically brilliant.

    Round 12:

The corner tells Oakey to stay out of range, and hey're probably right. Spartacus misses with a looping left. Spartacus trying hard, but Oakey is countering fantastically, Spartacus misses a right then a jab, hook, body shot, hook. Spartacus on the ropes, Oakey is banging shor shots in, 5, 6, and the ref steps in. Oakey adds TKO number 6 to his record. Spartacus hung his hands, but Spartacus looked absolutely distraught that it was stopped. Great finish from Oakey. He may have more to come yet.

Sorry Mick, round 12 KO for Oakey. Time 2.26 remaining in round 12.

CC for turning up pretty much wrecked bro....I imagine that is what it's like when I post pretty drunk.

Oakey says: "I am a good boxer when I put my mind to it. Fair play to sSteve he was a very tough, fit guy and he stayed there for much longer than I though he would. I'm delighted, and I am really elated."

Frank Maloney also confirmed that Oakey's next fight would be taking place in his home town of Portsmouth against Brian Magee, and Oakey deserves the plaudits he gets after that performance, cause he didn't stop for 12 rounds.

After some cunning modifying of the mistakes on my previous post, I can asusre you that my original result of 12 round KO for Oakey was correct

First on the uundercard is Micky Steeds returning against John Anthony, after his defeat in his challenge for the british heavyweight title. Anthony is throwing some big shots in the second, with three wild hooks, then a big right puts Steeds on his arse. A possible challenge for the British cruiserweight title seems a long way away for Steeds after round two.

John Anthony is a fighter that doesn't seem to bother with a jab, but jut comes forward windmilling his arms with massive power shots. Steeds recovering with a better boxing game, avoiding the big shots, and throwing jabs and hooks to the body. Anthony swings a right so hard that his fist carries him all the way to the canvas, no knockdown, just too much momentum. When you consider that Steeds came from the illegal street fighting circuit, you don't expect Steeds to fight like the classy boxer of the pair, but he is.

Steeds is picking off his opponent, and looks much more a natural at cruiserweight. John Anthony rocked y a hard left to the body. Anthony looksa four-round fighter, as Steeds comes forward with much more work. His guard, though basic, is blocking everything that Anthony has to throw. Good right and left hooks from Steeds. Steeds having a hard return to the game after his defeat against Gammer, going into the last. Anthony comes out with a ums rush. Swinging wildly and not landing anything. Body shot and left DO land from Steeds. Anthony cowers on the ropes as Steeds comes forward. Anthony does look like a fighter into his fifth fight of the year, but whenever he comes forward, Steeds looks to have enough to get past Anthony. Steeds deserves the victory, after coming up off the floor.

Last fight of the evening screened was Peter Haymer v Paul David, and with Haymer coming off a 2 round defeat against Ovill McKenzie, he needed the victory to put his career back on track. Unfortunately for him, David looked a very good, but awkward fighter, and was deserving of the victory over the former English and Commonwealth champion Haymer. Haymer didn't manage to land often enough, and spent way too long trying to set it up, instead of actually throwing the punches.

For me, that's goodnight, and I'll hope to see you soon enough, I think my next one will be Skelton v Sprott next Saturday night. Remember to choon in
