I think any sport where a concussion is the preferred ending is inherently not safe...The force behind a good kick is going to be harder than a punch and a punch with 4 oz gloves is going to be faster than one with 12 oz gloves..so the KO's can be a little more violent looking. The real issue is that boxers take more damage over a fight and career than MMA fighters. The brutalility is subjective

I hear your "big glove" arguement, but I don't entirely agree with it....smaller gloves/no gloves fuck you up more physically and bigger gloves allow you to punch harder......but what about knees and kicks to the head....you can't tell me what happened to CroCop was good for him

Let kicks like that repeatedly happen and you'll end up like Gerald McClellan

MMA is either more brutal or more safe.....it ain't both
It's safer. Lyle if you want to be ignorant then fine but it'll make your words carry less weight than ever, and they were Ivan Calderon like to begin with you hill billy piece of american dream.

So it's not more brutal.....there, see where logic and deduction take us?

If big gloves are bad then why did I think it was 140-147 move up to bigger gloves? Why not use smaller ones if they are safer?

Boxers are more apt to get punched, MMA fighters aren't....that's the big difference. 3 minutes of punching and trying to land punches vs 5 minutes of more options....kicking, grappling, punching.

It takes more time for an MMA fighter to land than it does a boxer mainly because they have to worry not only about being countered but tackled to the ground or kicked and in Crocop's case it was mighty bad looking.

VC is correct, concussions = bad.
