Thats not avoiding. What does Hatton have to gain from that fight? He would gain nothing from beating him. It wouldn't make anywhere near as much money as Hatton can make elsewhere. Plus Hatton wants fights to cement a legacy. People wouldn't give him praise for knocking Witter on his a**.

No they wasnt . Hatton had just become british champion and was selling between 5000 - 9000 tickets a fight. Witter had just fought steve conway in front of about 36 people!

Later that year In october 2000 hatton was fighting freddie pendleton for the WBU world title.

witter fought david kirk for no title - kirks record at the time was 9-29-2

Witter never has been on a par with hatton and never will be.

Having done an RBR for a Witter fight, it was pretty hard to make things interesting, as he tends to be matched with fighters that aren't all out attacking, and cause he only fights defensively, he gets himself into boring fights. The Morua fight was 8 and 1/2 rounds of utter sh**e, then one stunning incisive flurry that showed what he can do.

If someone walked in late, and just saw that flurry, they'd think Witter was fantastic, but he so rarely unleashes like that. And I don't really like his switching between stances, it's an Ingle thing I think and I reckon he could get caught out by better fighters. AS for the odds on Witter v Harris being filled with fireworks, I won't be betting my left testicle on it.
