I used to like Emanual Steward, but recently it seems the fame of HBO commentator has gone to his head.

Yup, steward refused to speak to me recently because he was "too busy" Yet Jim Lampley and Larry Merchant both had time to speak to mae!

where did you see Manny? that does not surprise me. Manny seems like a guy where he gets a little big for his britches. By the way, I have several tapes from the early 90s of when I interviewed boxers and trainers over the phone. I would call Caesars or MGM grand and ask for someones room right before a big fight and would say I am from a certain newspaper.. I would make up a name of a paper, and they would talk. I would have a list of questions for them. I have Foreman, Hagler, McCallum, Taylor, Virgil Hill, Freddie Roach, Merchant, Lampley, Duva. , Leonard,Hearns etc.. Funny thing is if I called and said I was a fan they gave you the usual stuff like, ok thanks,, well thank you and bye. But if you said you worked for a newspaper and you had questions set up you could talk to them for 15 minutes and have a great conversation. I once called Ferdie Pacheco at 7 am California time and he was in Atlantic City, and I forgot it was 3 hours before at 4 am. He answered and said, "do you know what time it is?" and I said, oh I am so sorry. Well he handled that great- he told me call in 4 hours, and I did and talked to him for awhile. Nice enough guy actually. Again Evander Holyfield was not so nice.

Met him at tha Calzaghe Manfredo fight, was surprised to be honest as all the trainers n pro's were really accomadating and friendly, particulaily Enzo Maccarenelli. I'm signin up as a fan for life having met him in Cardiff.
