Jesus wasn't religious. He spoke against it. All in the good book.

Most people really don't know much about Jesus. They know a few things from the nativity story and things like that, but they really don't understand.

From Lyle's comments I would say that he's in that category. Knows some very generic information from which he's based his opinions.

I would highly suggest you do some serious study. It truly is the most important topic in life. Your beliefs influence everything, thoughts, actions, etc. Religion is counterfeit. It is man's attempt to justify himself to God. That's why there are so many and so varied and so much "instability" as Lyle stated. If you really dig in and find out about what God says about religion you will be very very surprised Lyle.

I understand Jesus, I was just answering a question in my second post on this thred, in my first post I just made a humorous post.

I can understand people loving Jesus and all as a teacher and profit and son of God but most of the hardcore Christians and even some just devout Christians I have heard talk and they seem to forget we are all God's children.

In all seriousness, this is what I believe in. "All the Heaven's and all the Hell's are within you". Every concept of a Heaven or a Hell says ETERNITY, you're there forever....the past and the future all have time but the PRESENT, the NOW is the Heaven and the Hell because it feels like forever when you are happy or sad and I'm talking about the now as in RIGHT NOW, this second.

You want deep thought and TRUE teaching listen to Joseph Campbell....he taught the why of religion and the importance of the stories from all religions

Joseph Campbell's teachings inspired George Lucas to make Star Wars

....there you go, he makes it all very understandable.

Really everyone interested in this topic should watch "The Power of Myth" it answers lots of questions and gives you new ones to ask, but not ask other people to ask yourself

Is it mans obligation to himself to confront and defeat the above should we be allowed to keep Stemcells and Umbilical Cords in the freezer so we can wipe out Herpies and Diarrhoea?

Alot of Nutters out there would say no but i say man has an inquisitive nature and if Jesus did create us all then he gave us our tenacity to overcome obstacles and our enduring love for our kin to want to do better .

Things he'd probably want rid of like Porn would be a small price to pay for peace , decent air to breath and not having to feel guilty when i watch the new's .
he may have lived but he was no son of god.....because there is no god.......hopefully he'd kick Bush's a** and kill the terrorists and any religious radical for being a retarded douchebag....
How do you know there is no God?
If there was a god he would show up and demand that people quit killing each other in his name. If there really is one, i'm gonna say that hes doing a terrible job.
You mistake the god of this world for the Creator. This place is in rebellion and the mere fact that you have a sense of justice is proof of the existence of God.

If your values are simply a matter of your environment, and the environment we live in is unjust, why would we even consider justice? It is a foreign concept. Why do we strive for perfection in an imperfect world? Cause you are born knowing this isn't how it's supposed to be.
Because theres atheists out there who have a strong sense of justice and they never have nor will believe in something that can't be proven. A person who does the right thing who doesn't model his actions around a religion is better than somebody who does the right thing because its part of his religion.

their explination of how the world was created is very disheartening we were some sort of cosmic mistake....an unplanned existance. They may find comfort in that but I do not

I've stated that i think we were created "intelligently" but not by the traditional god that everyone wants to believe it was.

Well yeah that's YOU....I was talking about Atheists in general

And if you believe in a higher power then you're not ATHEIST in the traditional sense. Atheist literally means, "those who are without God"

I don't believe in a higher power if by higher power you mean something that can directly effect the universe as it stands right now. I'm saying it's a conscious force and it is all knowing to a degree but it will not directly interfer with the workings of the universe. What do you call a person who doesn't believe in a god but can suggest evidence that theres an "intelligent" but not necessarily methodically planned out design to the universe?

When I say "higher power" I mean God....and God can be interpreted many different ways but you know if you believe in God....whether it's a God you see in other people or a God that created life or God that brought about the "Big Bang" or whatever....you know if you believe in God
