Don't be an idiot. Mayorga was the first to KO Andrew "six heads" Lewis and take his belt. Then he knocked out Vernon Forrest, and beat him again in the rematch, proving it was no fluke. Then he took on Spinks and fuking beat him too, but got robbed big time on the cards. He pressed the fight much much more than Jermain Taylor did and for sure deserved to keep his titles. After that he defeated the man who Spinks lost to then beat for his title at welterweight, Michelle Picarilo, and he dropped him three fukin times and whipped his a** for the WBC. Jr. MW title. In between that he went to war with Tito Trinidad and got his a** knocked out. Finally he lost to Oscar in an embarassing a** whippin. Overall I'd say he is a pretty damn good fighter losing only to the VERY best in the world, and at weight classes he did not belong in.
Yeah, I'd have to agree with Hulk. First off, I think the word "overrated" is thrown around way too much in boxing. It's easy for us fans to sit back and criticize and call boxers overrated after they've had a few defeats. But we don't look at the big picture and see what they've accomplished in their career. Mayorga may be a lot of things, but IMO he was definitely not overrated.

Mayorga is/was the MAN! Both guys have seen better days but I like Mayorga to win this fight.

Vargas made me a fan in his Tito fight..can't help but think if he waited a couple more years before stepping. At 29 he's definitely older than his age.

It's really the perfect fight for them...both proud guys that only lost to the best and there's no shame in that.

Both have taken beatings but i think mayorga is better for the wear..vargas gained around 75 lbs of fat after the second mosley fight within 6 months...

CC. Mayorga is STILL a bad man. He's proven to be a warrior in the past in will kick Vargas's ass. Vargas already has one foot out the door talking like this.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

I'd like to see Vargas win, but who knows if either fighter will be in shape, and who's chin has degraded worse. Someone will be KOd in this fight, if not, they both should retire.

He lost to Spinks and lost to Oscar and lost to Tito.. Best fight was beating Six Heads, but other than that his fights have not been really great wins. Vernon was a good style matchup where Vernon stands straight up and is vulnerable to the wild punches of Mayorga. Vernon had to back up to avoid the punches and couldn't get his own offensive going stylewise. Mayorga is another overrated guy with an exciting style and the fans love his style. That is all you can say, but Vargas can beat him if he gets in shape. Mayorga is no big deal. There was a guy in the 80s like Mayorga and his name was Juan Roldan. But Roldan hit harder than Mayorga and Roldan fought better guys and lost all of the chances he had to win a title. But those were the days when the champs were good like Hagler,Hearns,Nunn. Nowadays Roldan would have been a champion.

Stop hatin on Mayorga. This Roldan guy blew his chances...well Mayorga didn't. He's held three world titles in two weight classes. And he's gonna KO Vargas Guran Fukin Teed.
