I can't believe this sh*t is even an issue on this fight. Bullsh*t stoppage?!? What was the ref going to have to wait for? For Cotto to splatter Judah all over the ring? Judah had been flat on his back seconds before, and was suffering a hellacious, systematic beating. How can this be called a bullsh*t stoppage?
I agree. That was not an early stoppage. It was stopped well.Originally Posted by EastonAssassin
My only problem with the ref was he was too vocal throughout and too engaged in conversing with the fighters, I think at times it took both fighters out of their rythm.
The ref did his job.Originally Posted by global
The ref knows Judah.
More distraction it was for Cotto who does not understand English all that well.
But to me that is what a ref is supposed to do. Make sure he is obeyed.
Was this not the same Ref in Judah/Baldomir? It was.
You thought the ref was vocal last night? You should have seen and heard him in the Baldomir/Judah fight. It was rather comical.
I like this ref. He had Zab's number.
Come on Monkey i like you as poster but this was good stoppage Judah was getting badly beating and i mean badly his eye was almost closed shut he got floored and if ref would of let it gone on 3 more seconds Judah may not have been able to fight again Judah had no complaints and neither should you.Originally Posted by Trainer Monkey
Zab didn't seem to mind the fight being stopped.
Bates Golata was a good stoppageOriginally Posted by ICE COLD BOXING
Both fighters went to war in this one,it was a great fight, they deserved better then that stoppage,Cotto only landed two unawnsered blows, after the knockdown.
Why even let Judah get back up if your going to pull the plug that fast.
Judah was trying to get out of the way, those werent crushing blows by anymeans, and Judah did manage to block a shot.
That was an absolutely beautiful war in there, and it ended the wrong way.
Do I think Judah was going to win,no he stopped letting his hands go in the later rounds, but if he had managed to slip out of range and survive the round,he still had a punchers chance.
Give it up, TM. The man did his job, and the telling factor is that Judah did not protest all that much.Originally Posted by Trainer Monkey
Nope,still hate the stoppage
Klitschko/Lewis,I hated the stoppage(because I thought Klitschko was winning)but Ill be the first to admit,it had to be pulled,he was just bleeding way too bad
Adamek/Pineda yesterday was a perfectly good stoppage
Bates yesterday is the hometown boy,but that was a perfectly good stoppage
Last night wasnt, and it was way too good of a fight to end like that
The fact is, when you're watching such a good, action-packed fight, you hate to see it end, no matter how the stoppage occurs. Maybe that has some bearing on how you feel. It's understandable. I myself was rooting for Cotto all the way, and wouldn't have minded seeing more of that unbelievable action. But in all fairness, Judah had taken a brutal beating and it was only going to get worse.
and seeing how trainer monkey greatly opposes 15 round title fights, he should not have a problem with a proper stoppage.Originally Posted by TitoFan
2 punches off a knockdown is two soon, now if Judah doesnt get out of there, and Cotto keeps tagging him,oh well it happens, and frankly I really dont like Judah. But that was way too soon.Originally Posted by TitoFan
Hell he never would have gotten tagged for the knockdown if hed listened to his corner and started letting his hands go more.
Nope sorry,no fan reaction to that, just a fight fans reaction,I didnt have a horse in the race, other then it had been a GREAT fight
There was a hell of a heavyweight brawl on the undercard of the Adamek fight that got stopped for a cut,no tears on that.
If the referee thinks the fighter is on shaky ground, he might have the guy on a short leash and if he doesn't bounce back quickly, it will be stopped almost everytime.Originally Posted by Trainer Monkey
Well, this is one of those cases where we'll just agree to disagree. Judah had: taken a knee on his own, been knocked flat on his back with a three or four punch combination, and his right eye was rapidly closing. His "puncher's chance", as you put it, vanished several rounds earlier when the fight moved into the later rounds, and Cotto just kept on boring in, punishing Judah like he'd never been punished before. It's easy for us to second guess the ref, from the comfort of your living room. But from Mercante's vantage point, he felt he'd seen enough, and Judah went quietly.Originally Posted by Trainer Monkey
