I'm a little surprised that I'm the only one who has even brought up Clottey's name (I had him at #5).
What has Paul Williams done at this point to be above Clottey? He hasn't fought anyone really legit yet. If he beats Margarito, obviously I'd bump him up to the Top 5, but he hasn't done it yet.
That's fair enough. Makes sense.Originally Posted by CutMeMick
I just wasn't sure if you were forgetting that Baldomir was moving up to 154.
It's stupid to put Margarito in front of Mayweather, Cotto less so, but still its a loooong stretch to say he would beat Mayweather. Margarito had a lot of trouble with Clottey who may have won if both hands had held up, and Cotto was impressive, but so was Baldomir against Zab Judah who Judah couldn't hurt, and had a harder time hitting cleanly. I think Baldomir is still up there.
1. mayweather
2. mosely
3. cotto: but not for long
4. margo
5. p. williams
I had-
1. Cotto
2. Mayweather
3. Mosely
Nothings Sweeter Than Sugar
Cotto or Mayweather if he comes back down.
Yeha but when one says best WW,does one mean the fighter who has accomplished the most at WW OR the one whom you think would stand the best chance of beating the rest? I base it on accomplishments:
Margarito
Cotto
Shane
Margarito is not top 3 RING and ESPN for no reason and has beaten more top 10 fighters than anyone else at WW and is undefeated at the weight for about 20 plus fights. Hes about to make the 7th defence of his title against another dangerous opponent.
Cotto has been a wrecking machine since he arrived on the scene and has 2 good wins v Quintana and Judah.
Mosley achieved some good wins but they were in the past but coupled with Collazo,it's still impressive.
I don't see why Baldo would be there nor Floyd. Floyd fought 3 fighters at WW:
Zab coming off a loss
Sharmba old and shot
Baldo:anyone of the above 3 fighters I mentioned have fought better fighters than Baldo.
If it's based on who I think would most likely beat the rest of the division THEN it would read:
Floyd
Margarito
Cotto
Mine came out
1,Mayweather
2,Mosely
3,Spinks
Spinks must have ended up in 3rd because i favoured him to beat Cotto
I see your point.Originally Posted by Violent Demise
What about rating them as far as what they've done. Not who beats who cause I would agree with you I think SSM beats them.
Nah! I know about the fight...Originally Posted by SweetPea
I'm actually leaning more towards Baldomir judging them by their last outings is what leads me to say Baldomirs gonna win.
SUGA SHANE MOOOOOSLEEEEY, WE GONNA SHUT UP PRETTY BOY, WE GONNA CRACK UP TONY AND THEN WE GONNA BEAT THE SHIT OUTA MIGUEL, TAKIN DA WORLD BY STORM AGAIN![]()
How I'd rate the top welterweights against Miguel Cotto (in no particular order):
a. PBF - He could win by decision if he stays away and boxes all night long. If he engages Miguel and gets caught to the body, Cotto will eventually catch up to him and give him holy hell.
b. Margarito - A good, action-packed fight, but I give Cotto the edge, based on hand speed and general boxing skills. The Cotto that beat Judah would take Tony out in 9-10 rounds.
c. Mosley - IMO, Cotto's most dangerous opponent. Mosley has fought well at 154, and has the combination of speed and power that could give Cotto fits. Not a gimme for either fighter, tho.
d. DLH - Personally, I'd love to see Cotto give DLH the same type of beating he gave Judah. If DLH thought Hopkins' liver shot was bad, he'd have a rude awakening vs. Cotto. It'd be competitive for a little bit, but Father Time is not on DLH's side.
e. Williams - Don't know enough about the man. But people tend to overlook some previous Cotto fights against taller, powerful fighters. Kelson Pinto was supposedly some hot shot Brazilian puncher, who had in fact beaten Cotto in the amateurs. When they met in the pros (I was there), it wasn't a pretty sight. Cotto pounded the sh*t out of the poor guy.
1) Mayweather
2) Mosely
3) Cotto
4) Williams (still unbeaten and i'm basing this on him beating Margarito)
5) Chavez jr (i just like the guy and hes got bags of talent)
I say Mayweather could beat Cotto inside or outside.
That sentance is ignorant.Originally Posted by Taeth
