Great performance against a 75% shot JLC.

The top guys at 147 is too big for him, but there's no one left at 140. he has to grow more balls and try to come up again because i doubt any of the top WW are coming back down.

hatton can compete with cotto i dont care what anyone says

Totally agree with you Fire, some people are going on about how Hatton was holding again last night when to me it was Castillo doing alot of the holding after the first round. Ricky was hitting Castillo with some nice bodypunches. hooks and uppercuts and Castillo also was catching Hatton with some nice shots until he took the sledgehammer of a body shot. 9 out of 10 for me cause he was just all over Castillo imop. Its amazing how different people can see a fight!!
C'mon guys. I understand you're obviously Hatton fans but when was the last time you've seen Castillo in a clinch fest. That was Hatton all the way. His fights are becoming unwatchable for me.

Nice body shot though. Funny thing is that the ref said the beltline was ok and then he penalized Castillo when he hit there. Weird. First time I've had acomplaint about Cortez but I guess he was due for a bad showing.

One thing is clear though. Castillo is done. He was slow and plodding and didn't seem to have alot of energy. Must be annoying fighting a guy that just holding your arms so much.

All in all, Hatton gets a 6 from me. It would have been lower but that body shot was impressive although Castillo looked washed up from the start and the clinching made the fight less than exciting.

He was holding a little much and smothering himself. But all in all he threw terrific body head combinations and showed good speed. People say could Hatton hold up against Floyds superior boxing skill, but my question is can Floyd hold up against Hattons constant pressure and bodywork? It wont happen though but Id rather see Htton-Cotto anyways.

Castillo was the one leading the holding, Hatton was trying to break clear and get his shots off - he knew he had JLC's number after 2 mins, so why would he hold

I no most of the holding was coming from Castillo, Hatton gets right under you and then fires his shots, Castillo new this and was doing more holding than Hatton.

Would he be effective if he moves up we will find out the big names are all their Mosely,Cotto,Margerito,Mayweather if he does'nt retire and even De La Hoya.

Exciting it was more frustrating for me the holding really does my head in the atmosphere of the fight was exciting.
    6 of 10 for a four rd. ko of a former p4p...

alot of people generally half the people on the poll on espn of over 10,000 voters world wide, voted that castillo would win..

no one thought hatton would win 4 of 4 rounds and ko him in the 4th.

and he tagged castillo's the right side of the body about 10 to 15 times before the final left hook finished him..

the fight would have been largely the same had they fought in castillo's prime.. castillo would throw faster and harder but that left hook would have still landed flush sooner or later..

that was his 1/2 ton punch!!!!! and i'm sure he had more adrenaline on that shot....

did you see it in slo-mo?? he rared back and hit him with precision and power that castillo has never faced... INCLUDING FLOYD

when he went down i thought of de la hoya-hopkins i knew he wasnt getting up for a minute....

WHAT IS THE BIG DIFFERANCE BETWEEN FLOYDS HITTING 3 OR 4 TIMES AND MOVING OUT.. AND HATTON HITTING 3 OR 4 TIMES AND CLINCHING

I thought it was like ICE AND ALOT OF OTHER FLOYD FANS SAY ITS ABOUT HITTING AND NOT GETTING HIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

you said it would have been lower than a 6 but a good body shot

well like you said we are fans and obviously you are a hater..

he won as desicivly as you could win... regardless of castillo's state..

    give him credit stop hating

people are saying hatton smothered his own offence because thats what the commentator said... he landed 38% of his punches, landed at will and smothered castillo's offence 30%, and castillo didnt hardly land any good flush power shot maybe 5

that was the reasoning in staying close

    but otherwise good points

I can't really rate him sincerely because I hate HATE hate his style. I can't stand the constant holding. That being said...it was a great performance against another championship caliber fighter.

Style? Hatton is Hatton. He fought last night as he usually does...nothing different other than the fact that he was up for the fight. I have decided that what makes Hatton so explosive & exiting is the opponent & the end results. He's definently one of those fighters that needs adversity to be motivated. If there's a lot on the line...the man goes all out. If he's working towards something...he's great.

I was thrilled with the fight...Hatton did much MUCH more than I expected.

I was totally disgusted with the commentating & the fact that once Hatton dispatched Castillo...Jose went from a threat to trash. This fight had been building for months & it was totally dismissed after 4 rounds.

Hatton said it best...he deserves a pat on the back for this one.

Honestly...I'm beginning to think that he should just go back to Manchester & close out his career there...fuck what the American boxing media & public think if their gonna spew shit like that immediately after a performance like that.

    It's just bullshit.

Half of the people that say shit like that...fans & media alike have never been in the ring & if they have...they sure as shit haven't been successful nor have they been in with someone like Castillo or Hatton...so the criticism is ludicrous.

Ricky Hatton did very well last night. Castillo reminded me of Rosendo Alvarez (against Jorge Arce) and Mark Johnson (against Jhonny Gonzalez). In the fact that he got old. Still Hatton deserves credit for his win. He is a better fighter when he fights, rather than hold.
