yeh that Sakio Bika is one dirty twat and I'm looking forward to see P. Smith on a big stage instead of the Olympia and let's see if the only brit can win it.

Sounds like a decent round up. I'd like to see how they fight and their contrasting styles. If they all mesh pretty decent, I think it'd be a pretty successful season.
Glad they are finally showing the whole fights. They should go into the mentality of the boxing, way of life. People will find out how crazy these guys really are. They look normal on the outside, but keep pressing and you'll find out that boxers are nuts! Show some new training, every fighter trains different... and show some sparring wars, the drama and competition in the gyms run deep.
Even do weigh-ins... maybe someone will pull a Barrera and sucker punch the other guy. haha That would draw attention.
It is great to see that an Aussie and a Pom get a shot at this show. What is wrong with Sakio? Apart from him not being an American? I would love to see Sammy win, if not i would be happy to see Bika or the Pommy fella win. It should be better with the slightly bigger blokes.![]()
Legit?
Maybe comparing them to the best US fighters as Green and Manfrado but comparing them to world class boxers as Kessler, Calzaghe and Mundine the show is just another stupid US TV Show
Congratulations on completely missing the point. It's about grizzled vets and young fighters get some good training, then fight off against each other until the best guy comes through, and that guy will be a contender in the division.Originally Posted by Peter Plys 44
It's not about putting three or four world champions in there...because by definition they're not 'contenders'.

Ever heard of some guys named Floyd Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins, Jermain Taylor, Winky Wright, Shane Mosely and Oscar Delahoya to name a few....They are all American in case you weren't aware...The show is called contender not champion, so what type of talent level would you expect.

I just hope they do away with the over editted fights and stop showing the family reactions half the freaking fight! Looks like they got a better crop of fighter this time tho.Originally Posted by BoxingGorilla

having Buddy McGirt as one of the trainers for the next 2 seasons gives it a little more credability to me. the younger fighters should definately benefit in training and having him in their corner during fights.
Manfredo didn't win his series of the show, he fell by the wayside. Pay attention and have some sort of idea what you're on about if you're going to comment about stuff.Originally Posted by Peter Plys 44
well pleased about smith, and surprised.nobody claims these guys are the best around, that really isnt the point.Great news they are showing full fights,i hope we dont see their families, sly etc at all, especially not during the fight,i dont need to see sylvester stallone wince to tell me it was a hard shot!so with this line up,full fights,no background music,no family shots and no punch sound effects this should be as good as we hoped the contender would be when we first heard about it
