damn u turned out to be a baseball fanatic u clearly know more shyt but when that day comes barry is proven guilty....you owe me ten coolclicks boy
Alright I will soften my stance a little, but the premise of my argument is that no one knows how many palyers were genetically and chemically altered in that era, there is no way to find out and you cant wipe out stats games and era's. so to bastardize one player of an era is wrong when people running the sport were pimping out the game

I will tell you yes I have always been a huge fan and historian of Baseball and I will tell you Bonds has always got tons of exposure even before this situation. But I am gonna keep my signature for a few days I deserve that much

I stand by my statement that Barry Bonds skin color is a part of his undoing. Sure, he has broken records that other Black-Americans have held and those previous record holders had the same cross to bear.

I did not throw that remark in their to start a racial debate or accuse fellow posters of being racist. It was a small part of my stance, just the easiest to refute.

I know that in America being a black man might not be a strike against you, but it isn't exactly favorable to the men who print the money.

Of course minorities are always victims and they always will be, how else could america function?

This needs to stop. The white guilt that something somebody maybe even remotely related to you did 100 years ago or so somehow makes you a bad guy needs to stop. No white person alive in this country today has ever been a slave owner and no black person in this country has ever been a slave to an american white male. You want real equality, drop affirmative action.

We can't move on as a country until phrases like "African American" quit being used. You mean to tell me some black guy who was born here automatically has african roots deep in his blood despite the fact he speaks perfect english (being that this is the only country he's ever lived in and that this is the only language he was ever taught) and his last name is james or some other common name? If you're born here, you're an american not a specialized sub or super species of american, just american. If you immigrate here and live out the rest of your life here you're american.

As an american you have the right to practice whatever religion you want and speak your mind freely as well as be 100% entitled to live your life to the fullest however you DO NOT have the right to reduce the rights of others simply because they don't believe in your god or are not your skin color. Being purple shouldn't make you more qualified for a job than someone who is orange and believeing in uga bugah doesn't mean that you can have every else religious practices shit on because it "offends" you to see a tree they decorated.

this is why racism is still around because theres people out there that still insist the need to put race into an issue, why can't we just ignore colors and talk about the real issue....STEROIDS!!!!!! This is not about bonds being BLACK its about this steroid invested era BASEBALL IS IN.

I will break this down to it's purest form. After this I'll consider my opinion fully explained and let the topic die.

It angers some white folk that a black man does anything positive. It further angers them when the blacks say the only reason Barry gets all this negative attention is because he's black. I also think there is a segment of the baseball fans that still think it's a white man's game and are trying to hold onto that for as long as they can because minorities seem to dominate many other sports.

Hence, "it angers some people that he is black." It does. That is fact.

that is true i guess when you say the word some. but I just feel we are all better of ignoring those few that still sees race as an affect towards them and mentioning race into an issue I just feel helps them out by lettting those few affect us and lead us to being peranoid everything must have something to do with race.

baseball isn't even a white or black sports anymore, its now a latino sports

    basketball is a black sport

Football is a white quarterback sport and black athlete sports.

boxing is a worldwide sport, american get most of the exposure though

It also makes many white people very happy when they see successful independent black Americans in any genre...Fact..On a side note, I love the use of "fact" by posters after a statement..As if that alone makes the statement concrete..

I don't care if an athlete is white, black, yellow, red, or purple. I don't like cheaters. I didn't like it when McGwire and Sosa broke Maris' record, and I didn't like it when Bonds broke Aaron's record. And I'll be happy when Alex Rodriguez (or anyone else, for that matter), providing they're "roid-free", breaks Bonds' record. Alex, Griffey Jr....... either would be fine by me. BTW, the fact that Bonds is so extremely unlikable doesn't help any. He acts like he's God's gift to humanity, and practically oozes arrogance through his pores.

We're so desperate to witness record-breaking feats... we don't care HOW it gets done. To me, that's just sad.

I just feel that Bonds, Mcgwire and Sosa have been facing juiced pitchers all through the 90's...so to me it evens out

You know, of all the counter arguments I've heard, this one is the only one that would make me soften my stance a little bit. You have a very good point. And there's no way to prove anything to the contrary. Hitters juice up, but how about the pitchers? Regardless, having seen Bonds blow himself up to twice his original size, and then watching how he so arrogantly dismisses anyone who doesn't worship at his shrine just rubs me completely the wrong way. So I'm just like a lot of other people that mix his steroid use (not proven in court, but damn obvious) with his personality when judging the guy.

Another thing you have to think of, it wasn't illegal when he did it if he did it. Thats like letting everyone use a really good work out machine and all of sudden when people don't like it baseball turns around and says ok you can't use it anymore and eventho you weren't breaking any rules when you did use it, you will catch hell for the rest of your life regardless of what you accomplish.

...and had this era not been surrounded with allegations of steroid use and perhaps HGH use as well....that would have helped
