I've said it over and over again.... the type of fighter who can give someone like Floyd trouble is a tall welterweight with an effective jab. Like a 2002 version of Vernon Forrest.

A jab is what really negates speed, not body punches. Look around at the welterweight division and see who fits the profile of being tall and having a long jab.... that's the fighter who would give him the most trouble.
Or the current version of Paul Williams, or a 99 version of Felix Trinidad..then again a 99 version of DLH would probably beat him too. Please remember that we are talking Welterweight before everybody starts screaming.

I actually think that the man to beat Floyd is one that out boxes him and at the same time has the power to get his respect. Someone with a good jab that knows how to come forward behind it and execute some effective combinations, not start flurrying with slap shots like some amature. It also has to be someone who can sustain an attack throughout the 12 rounds. He also has to know how to time his shots and try and catch Floyd coming in with those lead rights. A good solid boxer/pouncher would beat Floyd. The problem is that not many can do this effectively for 12 rounds. Only an elite can beat Floyd and he is at the moment the only elite fighter in the Welterweight division. The rest are great fighters but they are not yet All Time Greats like PBF.

Maybe this fight will happen after Ricky Hatton knocks-out Floyd

Spinks vs Mayweather would be about as exciting as a John Ruiz vs Henry Akinwande fight.

Mayweather wins and probably on points. I would say by wide points decision but he doesn't win many like that these days.

It would be technically interesting and one for the purest rather than the casual fan. Can't see HBO stumping up $10 million dollars for Floyds purse to make this happen so we can all breath a sigh of relief.

Well remember, they were close to fighting before Mayweathe signed to fight Baldo. I'd take Floyd via split decision. Floyd is faster, sharper and an overall better fighter but spinks is crafty, has a decent jab and is southpaw. Anyone who fights Spinks and does not knock him looks bad and it always makes for a close fight,so Mayweather SD. Neither fighter is active enough to KO or even assert themselves over them other.

Mayweather all day prob mid to late rounds stoppage, a little bit too fast and strong in all areas and like with Judah a stalk and destroy job ... lets not confuse Floyd weighing up Judah's style for the first part of the fight with him having serious problems with Judah...

This is exactly right. CC. I also can't see myself paying 5 cents to watch this on PPV (and I'm a Floyd fan).
