In A Rematch He'd Grind Him Down

I'm talking about Glen Johnson Vs Bernard Hopkins..... Hopkins Tko'd Johnson a few years back but Glen deserves another shot and I think his rough and tumble pressure hard nosed style would wear Hopkins down. Bernard his reduced to leading with the right, or his head, holding and hitting rinse and repeat over again.

Glen still pressures as good as anyone in the biz and throws a good volume of punches

You know I love you & all that S***...but that's like sayin' Lacy would whoop Calzaghe in a rematch.

Glen can be as ruff as he wants...but nobody's ruffer or more skilled inside than Hopkins. Glen comes in too much now & refuses to utilize the one weapon that could nullify Hopkins's tactics: A JAB.

Then again...Winky never got his off against Hopkins...so there aint much of a thought that Johnson would either.

Johnson's a work horse & he's got heart...but just because he plowed through an old Jones, a lazy Tarver, stopped an overdone Griffin, & went toe to toe with Woods (& let's just forget Moore) doesn't mean that he'll ever get through the cagey wit of Hopkins.

Honestly...I just don't know who can.

Sorry Wack, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you here. Despite beating a wannabe filmstar who left his fighting brain at home on a bed of dollars and a guy stepping up 10% of his bodyweight at light-heavyweight, I reckon that a natural light heavy who is fairly tight at the weight and seriously motivated would be able to keep Hopkins at bay with a super-firm jab and accurate shots.

Dawson and Drews are the ones the jump to my mind as potential Hopkins-killers, but as they aint very big names so he won't fight them. No one at light heavy is these days, so we're looking at the winner of Calzaghe v Kessler or a huge name like De La Hoya as the only possible opponents left for hopkins.

My thoughts...Dawson is waiting to be exposed. He just got brained by Harding & Adamek even struck a few chords. Those two names are no where nearly accomplished as boxers & Dawson fights light at 170lbs. He's yet to prove anything yet other than he's young, green, & can crack.

Drews? No way in hell.

I just don't see either really being a threat to anyone other than Tarver who now seems skiddish & gunshy after having his ass handed to him by an old man that's keeps on tickin while givin lickins!

Hopkins knocks out Johnson in my opinion, and I absolutely don't want to see this fight because at this stage of the game it doesn't do much for either guy. Hopkins should and possibly will be fighting the winner of Calzaghe v Kessler and rightly so. Hopkins has been picking the right guys to fight to increase his legacy. He wants Calzaghe or Kessler, then he wants to fight a heavyweight champ, and that's exactly what I expect him to do in 2008.

I take issue with that statement. Jones was by no means old when he fought Johnson. Had Tarver (that m***er f***er) not had landed the luckiest punch in boxing history AND had RJJ done the smart thing and stayed out at least a year (two would have been better) before returning, Johnson wouldn't have gotten close to beating Roy. No disrespect intended towards Johnson. They both got the win and what's done is done. I just hope Roy hangs out long enough to avenge his loss to Both of them.

I had Winky by a point. It was close. I'd have been happy with a draw or close decision either way, but the scoring was utter bollocks. The reporter for Boxing News had it wide. He said he thought Hopkins was going to force a stoppage. Fucks knows what fight he was watching.

As for a Johnson rematch for Hopkins, I'd say B-Hop would headbutt his way to a wide UD.

I just think that Johnson forces you to fight period... Sorry Wack but Hopkins cant be regarded as a Bona Fied skilled Boxer anymore.. He uses his tactics and Guile and thats it!! If Winky was naturally Bigger he would of beat Hopkins and not faded down the stretch like he did from The constant hitting and holding.

Johnson has been fighting comfortably at 175 for years, Hopkins wouldnt wouldnt get away with his usual Bullshit of his last 2 fights, head down lead right, hold and hit and mix in an ocassional head butt... Wash, rinse and repeat. Hopkins lost me as a fan during the Wright fight, he compensates for deteriorating skill and age buy fighting dirty holding and hitting... He did the same shiit against Tarver and I and the majority thought it was spectacular and great cause it was against that asss clown Tarver. Glen would force Hopkins to Box and Box effectively to keep him off, Glen can make it an EFFECTIVE mess on the inside
