I just dont see how this isnt breaking some kind of conflict of interest policy. The Ring directly effects his promoting, he claims there is a recusal clause but how in the hell do you enforce that?

The new 'UNMANIPULATED' P$P list of the Ring Magazine:

    1. Bernard Hopkins
    2. Oscar dela Hoya (don't be fooled, he's just warming up his seat )
    3. Juan Manuel Marquez
    4. Marco A Barrera...

    11. ..Manny Pacquiao
    12. Winky Wright ...

    57. ..Floyd Mayweather Jr.

This is all just for fun, so don't get all cracked up there folks. I'm still a fan of ODLH, as a fighter only, though. The $ sign between the two P's was just an accident, I held on to the shift key when I punched the 4-key, but since it looked good there, I just left it there.

I like it, the Ring has gone so far downhill that any change can only be good. Hopefully they actually put money into it.

Right now, it's a completely outdated magazine. The layout of the magazine is crap, the whole graphic design needs revamping, it needs to be longer and the physical size needs to be larger. And for God's sake keep it updated. It's always 2 months behind in stores. If by some miracle I find the magazine in stores, I pay $5 for it and it feels like a cheap tabloid as far as the paper it is printed on goes and everything.

I have the cover from October 2005 with Jeff Lacy and it is hell to take care of because it is paper.

And while the Ring has fallen off the map, Tapout has an absolutely fantastic magazine that is up to date, has interesting fighter profiles and everything. The Ring is the bible of boxing but it needs to get out of the biblical age. Don't see how anyone can have a problem with this, The Ring needs a SERIOUS revamp.

    that was hilarious, good one

Is this even legal? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the equivilent of the Labour Party buying the Daily Mail or the Times or the Republicans buying USA today?

I wonder if he'll be looking to sign up HBO next?

Maybe he'll start his own GoldenBoy broadcasting network

I guess Bob Arum can kiss goodbye to ever having any fighter Ring ranked ever again.

Then maybe, just maybe, DLH is the answer to this need. Is that what you imply amat?

Can't argue with you. with DLH's current move, he might as well be the genius the Ring needs.

Listen take if from someone who knows, the last thing you want to give to an egomaniac would be king is a ring.

Burn every copy! Throw them into Mount Doom! We're all done for now!

Feel free to burn every copy Bilbo, good luck finding one

Anyone who is going to put money into The Ring is OK by me, it's not possible for it to fall any farther off the map then it already is. It might be a conflict of interest but it's not anything to worry about.

Right! The 'independent' board guys think puttin' him at 3 would make it too obvious, and make de la Hoya gang look like a mafia triad so they settled for the 5th. I forgot, the 'board' also decided to expand the list up to 70 just to accomodate Pretty Boy, how nice of them.

(Mods, Mick, if you find this offensive, please be free to delete all my posts here. Just trying to have some fun but I guess not all folks here will find 'em funny.)

I hope not, but at some point this will probably be the true.
They were never impartial to begin with.

I dunno what to think? But mayb better oscar than another "legitimate business man," If a tycoon such as King/Trump/Other invested we would KNOW that it was for financial benefit only, Oscar may use this to launch his fighters but hell, at least he'll be open to competition.
