I am really beginning to think Roach is nervous about this fight. He is a professional and Manny is a tremendous fighter. But all of this bs coming out...about spies, hand wraps, knockouts in practice, etc.....all seems like mind games. But why would a supremely confident trainer and boxer need to play all these games? If Roach is so sure about his fighter...he would shut his trap...train his fighter....and let the results speak for themselves. But i think Roach knows all to well he will have a tremendous challenge ahead of him and Pac. I know one thing for sure....MAB has been in this business long enough to not let stuff like this effect or bother him.

Oh God, of course since this site said Freddie Roach said it and since Freddie Roach said it, it's fact. MAB has been using pre-casted cement on his hands

Manny is a really good fighter and in the ring, he's part of what's right about boxing but this is BS.

Barrera has always been nonshalant about the gloves he uses and the way his hands are wrapped, all that was well documented before the Naz and EM fights so why would I have any reason to believe this.

The more I hear about the fight the closer I think it's going to be.

Don't the sanctioners have someone check out the taping and the gloves before each bout?

as stated over the page, a member from the opposite camp, nevada state athletic commission supervise & sign the taped glove so it can't be tampered with after they've all seen them wrapped.

When I watched Pac-MAB 1, I've noticed the tape (wrist area) on their gloves initialed "TEX". I assume "TEX" means texas athletic commission since the fight held in Texas.

One thing i might add to this subject.
In barerra juarez2, i and many others felt it was the tape ON the gloves that was wrapped incorrectly.

Maybe that's where Roach got his bitching.

Perhaps, Roach would then be justified as Barerras gloves were improperly wrapped, as the tape impeded onto the "punching surface," of the glove, perhaps creating an additional risk for cuts. But Roach was referring to his "hands," being wrapped and mentioned some other fight ?

One thing for sure, Roach is taking this protest seriously. He proved people wrong before on gloves controversy in Pac-EM trilogy. He could be right again on this one.

Inever knew there was a problem with gloves there! What happened?

I'm sure somebody can explain this better than me. But I'll try my best.

The Mexico made Cleto Reyes, which are Pac's favorite gloves - well known as "puncher's gloves". They're more effective in knocking out fighters.

And there's Japanese made "Winner's gloves" which are very comfy and protects more fighters hand. I'm not sure exactly the name of the brand but they are EM's traditional choice.

Pac wanted to use cleto reyes gloves but for some reason they didn't let him in Pac-EM 1. As a result of that, he couldn't drop EM.

When Pac uses a pair of Cletos in Pac-EM 2&3,...

...well,... you know what happen there.

Oh right, yes i understand man. Iv worn Clet Reyes gloves myself, very easy to hurt the opponent wearing them.
I'm not sure id attribute the result of Pac Em 1 to the gloves but i do agree they would have some influence, particularily if Pac had trained with Reyes gloves.

I would'nt fully attribute the glove issue too in Pac-EM 1. Erik Morales plainly schooled Pac in that fight.
