His familiar ring attire and trunks epitomized his career and ebb and flow fights.Decked out in camouflage ready for a war.
I do not think he should be in the hall of Fame but will be remembered as an honest leave no doubts fighter. He wore his emotions on his sleeves.
The first time he Really grabbed my attention was his Title shot against defending champ Roberto Garcia. "Grand Pa" Garcia came in undefeated at 33-0 (24) out of Ca. and was tactically sound with good power and a credible Champ.Garcia boxed circles around Corrales early and was pot shoting him Pulling away. And then along came the POWER in the 4th as he dropped Garcia twice and it was as good as over.Chico dropped him in the 7th and Corrales had made his presence apparent and would go on to give all of us great memories. R.I.P Champ.

Corrales was a great action fighter, but he wasn't a great fighter.

He loved to brawl too much and never learned how to take advantage of his skills. His most complete performance IMO was the 2nd fight with Casamayor. In that fight, he boxed intelligently and at a distance for the whole 12 rounds, and he clearly beat Casamayor. It was a very impressive performance, and his career would have been more successful overall if he had always fought that way.

He never would've been able to beat someone like Floyd at 130, but he would've been able to win the other fights with Casamayor, and he wouldn't have been forced to absorb the punishment he took against Castillo in their two fights.

Delahoya doesnt. he's never been an undisputed champion at any weight. all this multi weight champ stuff is shit. if you aint unified or universally recognised as number one, you can win all the jarg arsed titles you want and it dont mean shit.

You've taken my point out of context. Oscar won a gold medal..then went on to fight some huge names and forge a highly succesful career for himself climbing numerous weights.
Is climbing weights not considerably more admirable than collecting alphabet titles, you yourself so openly despise.

Diego was without a doubt one of the most entertaining fighters of our era and he was also a better boxer then he let on...Diego became to wrapped up in the all out war process and that hurt him in the long run..it did to him what it did to many good boxers who become brawlers...their reflexes suffered for it...Gatti was another guy who could box very well and would have won some bigger fights if he did box and not go to war...Diego also let a lot of his personal life effect his in ring life....

I remeber seeing his pro debut and thinking WTF? He looked like he would break in half...Even Hearns was not that skinny and he was almost 6'2" and 147lbs...but he could bang and he had a good jab.....

By the time of his death and you could see it in the Cassamayor fight especially his desire was gone...almost like he was just there because he did not know what else to do....

I will personally miss him I was a fan...I can not say he was a great fighter but I will say he could have been...Corrales was his own worst enemy in the ring....

Either way it was a shame to see him lose his life and leave behind young children due to a silly day out blowing off some steam and having a few drinks.....That is the real tragedy of it all

But that was when it was all over.

He's not a Hall of Famer
, but his fights with Castillo were Hall of Fame caliber fights.
The first fight with castillo is the greatest fight of all time IMO
I agree completely. I have never seen a better fight. I will forever remember Chico. He's HOF calibur for me.

I think thats the fight Rookie Fan was talking about.

Isn't there talk of Gatti going in there? If he's going in then Corrales surely deserves a place.
I think Bukom Battler said it best...its the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of 'talent' and Corrales definitely made himself famous by being involved in one of the greatest wars of all time. I say he's in..He's another guy that was more appreciated after his death though..he had his fair share of haters when he was boxing. I guess that was more to do with the fact that most of us knew it was over for him and he should have hung them up.

CC back to ya Wacko...I really felt for his family when this happened..I remember when I talked with him before the Cass fight and he mentioned his kids and spoke every proudly about them...So it kind of hit a chord so to speak..if you know what I am saying

I see you used the word boxed. he lost his big fights to trinadad, twice to mosely, hopkins and mayweather. theres champions in 3 weight divisions that beat him. he unified some titles but was never an undisputed champ.
