Cotto's next fight can't come soon enough for me, nor Margarito's.
I have heard Tony intends to fight 3 or 4 times next year!!! Here's hoping! I don't remember the last time he did that! I'd like to see Tony fight decent fighters, but if I'm honest,I want him to get his big shot asap. He's beaten enough fringe contenders,he's fought guys who are under rated or who he did not have to fight all throughout his career,it's time for the big names. I want to see Cotto etc.

He asked for a PW rematch but that's not going to happen for a while,PW is probably going to have 1 warm up and then fight Kermit. So Tony has to stay busy. I can see a Cotto fight happening though, and it would be easy to make!

I hope he does, and think he really means to, fight that many times next year. He wants to have people remember his name in this division and the best way to do it, especially with all these names at WW, is to fight. Now he just has to get people to want to fight him. Cotto no doubt will, as I don't think he fears anyone.

I have no doubt in my mind that Cotto-Margarito would be an awesome fight. But what I don't like is Margarito demanding to fight either Cotto or the winner of the Floyd-Hatton fight. Boxing has unwritten rules. You lose, you go back a few notches and work your way back up. Since when can a 4-loss fighter demand an immediate match against an undefeated champion? I'm not saying Margarito doesn't belong in there with the elite. I'm just saying he needs to wait in line. And if that means waiting until after Cotto and Floyd have a "go" at it, then he's just going to have to be patient. I'm sure there's gonna be a lot of people around here just waiting for Cotto to lose, so they can put him at the end of the line. Margarito looked great last night. But let's not get completely carried away.

    Just my opinion, of course.

Exactly...Cotto has a better chance to beat Floyd, but Tony is dangerous fight for Cotto. It's dangerous situation when your biggest weakness plays into your opponents greatest strength. You need a jab to beat Mayweather, and Cotto has a great jab. You need powerful uppercuts to beat Cotto, and Tony is the best in the business at those.

Margarito needs to fight the winner of Williams/Cintron to see who gets Cotto after Floyd/Hatton. A win over Golden Johnson doesnt throw you right back in the mix, even a devastating k.o.

I tend to agree, though my patience will be severely tested waiting for Floyd to make the fight with Cotto. He'll probably retire after Hatton, then come out of retirement 1 year later. In the meantime, Cotto/Margarito will appease my violent nature.

Oh my aching Head Margarito Did In fact and is Indeed Coming back Fierce. He really looks pumped. No slow start here...123 punches in 2:28,Mix in 3 Knockdowns.Granted Johnson was taylor made and off long layoff but it would not have mattered. In contrast to Cotto's Post Interview (Refuses to call anyone out ,I leave it to da company??) Margarito calls out and demands fights with the best.
I think Margarito Beats Williams and Cotto.Cotto turned a page in his career last night and showed signs of "Maturing".If he were to try this style More boxing or close on the inside against Margarito he too would be taylor made IMO.Shanes punches had no effect, save that moment in 9th, but Tonys rangy mixup of sharp shots would reek havoc. He needs to get right in the mix,Dont sit around and get stale with to many "stay busy" fights although activity is indeed key.Strike when the steel is hot.Welcome back Antonio

Not to dis Margarito in any way. (I think he's a great, entertaining fighter). But Golden is no Shane.

For the first time since I can remember, we totally and completely agree.

exactly tony was suppose to win in anyway he choose, a first round k.o is always great. But cotto defeated shane who many people thought he wouldn't. And I was one of them. Cotto needs to fight winner of hatton/floyd and tony can get his rematch with williams if williams beat cintron.

Actually as much as I want to see Tony and Cotto go at it, for just the fireworks it will produce, your scenario sounds reasonable. I'd also like to see Tony try to avenge that loss against Williams, so I would be hyped for that fight for sure. Either way, Cotto has his respect now now from alot of people, and all eyes are on him now, even Floyd's I would imagine.

I think it will happen. I see Floyd beating Hatton then not wanting to fight Margartio or Cotto by going back into so called retirement. Arum has already talked about Cotto and Margarito fighting. I for one can't wait for this fight.

That's a very very good post and I totally agree with you for once.

Some excellent points as per usual my friend. The other side to this is that,Tony has been at WW for a long time and has beaten a long list of fighters, fringe contenders, young fighters etc. He deserves a shot alot more than anyone else and has yet to recieve it. I have no qualms about a Floyd-Cotto fight,I just think Floyd is going to be a bitch in negotiations and I'd rather Cotto stayed active rather than waiting around for Floyd who wil beat Hatton, then dilly dally around for the most amount of $$$,make an anonouncement of his retirement and then MAYBE fight Cotto. Tony is there. He'll fight anytime, any day.No hassle.

Sorry bro but it won't. Too much risk little reward. Margarito just lost his Tittle. If he erally wants Cotto let him fight he way up and the challenge. Mayweather/Hatton vs Cotto is what needs to happen.

i think Margatito should take on Paul Williams again.
if he is so much better now then he should have no problem in beating Williams.
He has no right in my opinion challenging Cotto/Mayweather/Hatton until that happens.
or since Cintron also looks so much better than before, i think he should give Cintron a rematch.
