    Thanks Galaxy i did not know that he went on to train Joe Louis it sucks that Wiliams was black back then and could not compete for the title.

    Jack Blackburn was Joes trainer, Holman Williams was Boxing in the same era Great Fighter Never worked with Joe.

    Interestingly Billy Conn turned down a fight With Charlie just after he had lost to Louis. They were angling for a return fight with Louis and thought Burley to dangerous and being 18 lbs lighter

    Have a look at any Ring mag that has the top 20 greatest middleweights (Jan 2001 issue,2004 Ring Yearbook) Quote "You remember Williams. He's often credited with teaching some kid named Joe Louis how to box"

    I never said he was Louis' trainer but it states he showed him something!
