The only ones who aren't living off past glories in my opinion are Hopkins, Mosley and Wright. The rest of those on that list are selling tickets and getting title chances because of what they used to be and their reputation. And anyway, I think that it is those three that can really still compete on a world title level, and could still have huge fights in their futures.

I got a question for the people who said Hopkins should still be fighting.
Has he really been fighting period? I mean really.
Taylor I / C- performance
Taylor II / C performance
Winky / C- performance
Tarver / C+ performance
I mean really let's really analyse his fights is he really fighting? I'm sorry but like I said right after the Winky fight I've always been neutral with Hopkins hes an ATG but after that fight my patience ran out with him & Winky. Either they fucken fight or just retire already. Hug, jab, hug + punch on the inside, jab, hug, jab, straight right miss, counter miss, hug, jab, hug, hug, hug, hug anf hug...
In regards to that list possibly Winky and for sure SSM can still continue to fight the rest need to hang them up.
Here's others that spring to mind:
Hasim
Quartey
Freitas
Shannon
Lamon Brewster
Robin Reid
Howard Eastman
Robbie Peden

Mick, you think Hopkins win over Tarver was C+? It was his first fight above middleweight since his debut and he completely dominated him. That was at the very least an A- performance in my book.

Right I understand what he did but come on Tarvers another guy who IMO is just up there for the lime light and not really out there tearing some ass up. Whether it's age or whatever but I've never been fan of 'Bobo'Originally Posted by BoomBoom
I would say that was he did was A class thing but it's just how he fought to me I guess I'm just being really hard on fighters like Hopkins & Winky who quite possibly hug more then they actually punch. Hope I made sense there....

I can see where you're coming from Mick, in as much that Hopkins isn't turning in the sort of performances that he did earlier in his career, but the fact of the matter is that he is still winning fights against big-name opponents in sold-out shows, and although he is, of course, trading on his reputation, he has adapted his style to negate the natural diminishing of the human body as it gets older.
It isn't pretty, but it's sure as hell been effective in his two most recent fights. And you can't tell a dude to retire because his style isn't great to watch, otherwise we'd have about four fighters in the heavyweight division at the moment.

Yeah! you understand what I'm saying SupHeavy... Like I said in the post above I guess I'm just not interested in seeing two grown as men hugging for 12 fucken rounds. That's why I'm rating the performances that way, of course Hopkins cant do it like before so hes finding other methods to get wins and its working for him I'm just not at all interested anymore. I can appreciate smart boxing and I can appreciate a patiend boxer who breaks down opponents but I don't know it's just not for me. Also like I mentioned when theres more hugs in a round then punches theres something fucken terribly wrong there.Originally Posted by superheavyrhun

I think Tito will lose to Jones and then retire.
I'm sure why people think Oscar needs to retire. He's never taken a bad beating (so he doesn't have that much wear & tear) and he just fought a very competitive fight against the #1 PFP fighter in the world.

SC. How can you say it is time for Winky to hang it up. Winky looked poor way up there in wieght, he was robbed against Taylor. YOu all just make shit up about one of the greatest ever that is still in great shape. I can not believe you included his name.

Roy Jones was at one point considered the greatest fighter on earth, and Hopkins annihalted both of the guys who beat him
Johnson,when he was undefeated,and Tarver

Revoke fatman Toney's license. Anyone who needs roids for a SD of Batchelder should retire.

All of those guys have one thing in common imo, they're not going to retire until tehy aaaaaaabbbbbsoooolutleyyyy have to.

Trinidad will retire once he loses to Roy Jones Jr...and Roy might retire too but I think he'll give a shot to Hopkins or Calzaghe before he fully retires.
De la Hoya has been a part time fighter since his loss to Mosley in the rematch

Well said....but I really think boxing should come down harder on the drugs cheats, cause 1 year and 6 month bans don't mean shit when the fighters are only fighting two or three times a year anyway.Originally Posted by bzkfn
