Cintron's ex Manager says Kermit Has No heart

Good point, Taeth. Of course we see it happen time and time again, fighters either fight to the level of their competition and only fight great against the bigger challenges, or as perhaps was the case here against Feliciano, get caught looking ahead of the guy in front of them.

I don't mind being the lone voice of dissent on this one. I thought Kermit fought a tough slugfest against a fighter with an iron chin. They went toe-to-toe for 10 tough rounds. If Kermit's hand was in fact hurt, even more credit should go to him. I doubt many of us have fought even two rounds with a hurt right hand. That Kermit looked like sh*t against Margarito? Hell yeah. But I'll insist this is a different Cintron. Maybe I'll be proven wrong. But I'm not about to get off the bandwagon after one subpar performance. Maybe the previous, devastating KO of 26-1 (with 25 KO's) Walter Matthysse is still fresh in my mind.

He did show no heart when he fought Margarito. I wonder if he cant break a fighters will or stop him he mentally doesnt know how to handle it. Kind of like a Tyson mentality. That will definately hurt him when he fights another guy who thinks like a champion.

It's clear that the guy believes Kermit has talent and if you believe what he said about Kermit's heart, then you should believe what he said about his sparring with Hopkins. One thing that was curious is that the guy said Kermit was in no trouble in his previous 22-24 fights, but lets remember, those guys were NOBODIES (except for Ortiz and Reid, the latter which gave Kermit his toughest test up to that time). As Cintron stepped up the level of competition, the fights were harder/more difficult, which is to be expected. Still, Kermit was in no danger of losing to Estrada, Suarez, Mathysse, and Feliciano and those fights all ended as brutally as the previous fights. Kermit seems to have his mind back in the game and the whole mindset thing happens to the best of them (see Judah). If Kermit's head is in the preparation for every match, be afraid, be very afraid. Kermit has a shot against any of the welterweights out there today because of that jab and that power (in both hands). He can KO brutally all of the top welterweights with one shot.

IF Kermit's head is in the fight, yes he's to be feared; IF. IF he had Feliciano's grit and gameness he'd be unbeatable, but he doesn't and never will. You said it happens to the best of them, like Zab Judah. Yeah it happens to Zab every fight, except when he's fighting bums on FNF's. I can't argue with you too much since Cintron folded in his most important fight to date against Margarito. I like to look at the glass half full as opposed to half empty and give Kermit the benefit of the doubt. He had one bad day (Margarito) when he clearly wasn't ready for prime time. Since I like cold blooded KO's, I get excited before a fight thinking about Cintron's physical ability and what he can do with his fists as opposed to anticipating that he will fold when the going gets tough. If anything, Cintron has shown resiliency in the fights since Margarito, and this is a trait he has shown throughout his life (if you know his bio, he lost both parents at a young age and has overcome hardships to be where he is right now). Basically, I am more enthusiastic than skeptical about Kermit's future in the ring.

I hear you man, I like my glass 1/2 empty, that way I don't get too disappointed I was a big fan of Cintron until that fateful night with Margarito, and still cringe when I watch that fight. No offense Rican, as I'm not trying to be an a## or rub it in, but he flat out quit, and I was screaming at the t.v. like an idiot I was so pissed. I know that's in the past and maybe he'll redeem himself, but I have to see it to believe it as I believe once a quitter always a quitter. JMO. If he does get his sh#t together, he will be deadly; I'll give him that

In the Margarito fight you could see he got his bell rung, when you get rocked good and you get that buzz in your ears...that is scary. If that was the case, I dont blame him for stopping, for health concerns.
