The fight was actually ruled a No contest in the fourth round, and according to the report on www.fightnews.com it sounds like Danny Williams was actually the main man during the fight, with the ref saving Platov by ruling the cut too bad to continue.

    St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Switzerland:
An IBF Intercontinental heavyweight clash between Oleg Platov (26-1, 22 KOs) and former world title challenger and Mike Tyson conqueror Danny Williams (37-6, 30 KOs) ended in a no contest. Both fighters landed big shots in round one, but Platov was the more effective. Platov was cut over the left eye by a head clash in round two and was bothered by blood in his eye, even taking a knee at one point. Platov the fought back hard for the rest of the round. Williams came on in rounds three and four, but the cut continued to get worse and the bout was stopped by referee Earl Brown at 2:15 of round four.

Sounds more to me like Platov was doing well till he got cut from the headbutt, and was distracted from then on. Ill have to see the fight though. Probably would have been competitive if it wasnt for the headbutt.

I watched that fight Danny looked preety good and in shape for his weight and almost knockout Oleg but in round 2 was a headbutt and in round 4 the ref stop the fight and in turn to be a no contest...

I got disapoited once again from today boxing. As Danny should won that fight by a TKO.

As they are talking already for a rematch but dont know it will be good or bad for Danny cause this Platov guy got some power to KO too as he is faster then Danny in feets but Danny got much more expirience..

I think that Danny Williams would love to get back at this guy again and actually get a win this time. If he was looking as good as you mention night, is Platov going to want to go back in with him?

Anyone think heavyweights are getting too big these days? They seem to be looking for strength and its to the detriment of their stamina, speed and athleticism. Heavyweights can barely fight for a full 3 minute round these days.

I can see where you're coming from on this one, and I think that the future of David Haye in the heavies will be interesting to follow. He has the speed and athleticism, and we know his chin was alright in the cruisers, but I wonder whether he will succeed and show the way for heavies to be quick, athletic and not solely based on strength.

Williams will be 300 at his next fight. The boy do love to eat. Kinda reminds me of Bowe.
