I think by now the question is not whether or not they are ATGs, but where to put them among the ATGs.

Roy Jones can't do much more at this point he is where he is and nothing he does from now on short of becoming undisputed champion again or being humiliated by Trinidad is going to change that.

Floyd however, has a chance to be named among the very best if he fights some of the top fighters around his weight. If he ever made it to 160 and claimed a title there he should very well be mentioned amongst the top 5. But it's probably unfair to ask that of him. The only way I see Floyd being considered among the very best All Time is if he stayed fighting and claimed all the belts at 147. And who here doubts that he can do that if he wanted to.....

I feel Both Deserve the privelege of Having ATG by their names.

Floyd Mayweather Jr.: One of the most technically skilled fighters of all Time. His education in the fistic arts is unrivalled by anyone save perhaps Pernell Whittaker. His impeccable record is a representation of his brillance and his opposition cannot be deemed anything other than high. Although not a fighter of immense popularity he will be remembered as the best Fighter of this generation who's tactical boxing was supported by a master plan which took over two decades to formulate and constant practice to perfect. This style will allow him to fight on as long as he wishes, without his body failing him as each fight merely adds to his depth of expierience and ring knowledge.

Roy Jones Jr.: When viewed next to Mayweather Jr. one realises Jones was not the perfect boxer. However he was for a period of time the perfect fighter, His physical ability was the equivalent of Mayweathers boxing ability and he used it to tremendous effect in his prime. His opposition cannot be depicted as the greatest, but one must remember it was not who he beat (although there are some great names there,) it is the nature of the beatings he administered. Jones had the ability to humiliate an opponent by revealing an opponents shortcomings in comparison to his own and then delivering a perfectly timed display of his own supremacy. The losses on his record are a resultant of the body's natural deterioration as a result of time and unfortunately unlike Myweather he never had the polished skills or Ring knowledge to fall back on that Floyd will.

No fighter in the history of boxing looked as good as Roy Jones in his prime. Nobody ever made boxing look as beautiful as a prime Jones Jr did, not Ali, not Leonard, Robinson, nobody.

No other fighter went from middleweight champ all the way up to heavyweight champ all the while remaining undefeated save for a controversial DQ against a figther he was delivering a final KO blow to.
If he would have retired after Ruiz he could have been an argument for the best ever.

As for Floyd a world champ in 5 weight classes, never beaten, never dropped save for when he broke his hand on someones hand. The best defensive fighter in the last 20 years, probably even better than Sweet Pea.

First ballot Hall of Famers both of them and all time great boxers no question.
Agree with everything you said cept for the bold text. There was nothing controversial in that DQ. Jones committed a blatant foul by hitting him not once, but twice while his knee was down. I have seen very few DQs more deserving.

I don't agree Griffin was really acting up he knew he was done and acted up. Witherspoon hit Frank Bruno 3 times when he was on the canvas he didn't get DQ, Bika hit Jaidon 2 times when he was on the canvas he didn't get DQ. They wern't hard punches from Jones so i don't think he should of been DQ.

I tend to be very black and white with these sort of things. Especially when it is a rule made for the safety of the fighters. IMO whether Griffin acted up or not, whether the punches were hard or not, are irrelavent. IMO all those fighter's you mentioned should've been DQed, or at the very least had 2 points deducted. And I say this even without having seen those fights.

Either way we all know what happend and we all agree that it has nothing to do with Jones status as an ATG.
