    Jermain Taylor

I think Pavlik deserved it because he came out of nowhere he was the underdog against Miranda not a lot of people expected him to win that fight. And he destroyed Miranda which no one expected him to do, he was also the underdog against Taylor and he destroyed Taylor in impressive fashion. And now alot of people think he is the future of Middleweight division if you would of told people that at the start of 2007 that would have laughed there a** off. I think based on the things i just mentioned Pavlik deserved it.
Pavlik doesn't deserve S***... i promise you KNOW he will go down as another over hyped american who aint S***... SC all you fan boys but this guy is lacking a stupid amount of things he needs to make it it is unreal... he KO'd a guy most of whom dont even believe should of come to that ring as the champion... S*** taylor JUST won a fight over cory spinks at a weight spinks should not even joke about fighting at.

There is only one Fighter of the year and the official result (the ring) will prove me right on this... Flord Mayweater Jr..

You named who Cotto beat, now lets see... Urkal? who exactly? Judah? the same Zab floud already beat? the same zab baldi already beat? sure he was given a chance, he is a big name and not everyone loves cotto...

Now Floyd... Steps up, beats De La hoya... now prime for prime at that weight i'm picking oscar everytime... but even so, that was a hell of a result for floyd coz floyd is not even close to being at his best at LMW... destorys ricky hatton... any floyd fan would know the first few rounds would be close ish, or even hatton taking them as floyd starts slow... this is 2 p4p fighters going at it, and truth be told, floyd F****** embaressed hatton in that fight, end of IMO...

Floyd beat an absolute legend this year. He then went on to beat the absolute champion at the weight below with ease...

Talk about throwing your toys out of your pram. I mean come off it your acting ridiculous and going way over the top, Taylor didn't look great in a few of his previous fights but he looked damn impressive for Pavlik fight. It looked like the old Taylor to me and it was amazing fight in which Pavlik won dramatically.

You named who Cotto beat, now lets see... Urkal? who exactly? Judah? the same Zab floud already beat? the same zab baldi already beat? sure he was given a chance, he is a big name and not everyone loves cotto...

Urkal is very tough fighter that went 12 rounds with Kostya Tszyu,he lost x2 to Vivian Harris but he is still durable fighter and isn't an easy too look good against, Judah has lost some of his biggest fights yes. But he is still very talented fighter and Cotto beat the leaving crap out of him in impressive fashion even better than what Mayweather done to Judah.

Now i'll end this by saying Pavlik come out of nowhere and was big underdog against Miranda. Who was supposed to be the next big thing in Middleweight division. Taylor may of not looked good in a couple of his fights but he still beat Hopkins x2 and had a draw against one of the best defensive fighters of our time Winky Wright, Pavlik knocked Taylor senseless in impressive fashion, now people think Pavlik will be the next dominant Middleweight champion if you would of said that to people early in 2007 that would have told you don't know anything about boxing or etc.
thorwing my toys out of the pram for what exactly? you think im a taylor fan? you aint got a clue who your talking to then....

Taylor "beat" a lazy hopkins... hopkins in his prime would of destroyed taylor... how the hell can you take a guy seriously when he blows out after a few rounds, ouma he claimed after the third round he had nothignleft? wtf... pavlik, he was burnt out after the second round, and looked S*** when he tried to finish him..

I didn't say you was Taylor fan, i said your acting over the top and very aggressive when i was just stating my opinion.

Hopkins got better with age, the younger version of Hopkins was more of a brawler.

Taylor was fighting even with Pavlik all the way up until the stoppage, i think he looked great and better than i have seen him in a long time. Pavlik caught Taylor with a good right hand then picked his shots well and brutally finished off a very talented fighter like Taylor in good fashion. That deserves major props for how well both fighter's performed, plus the bravery of Pavlik to comeback from that 2nd round pounding, and how great the fight was, one of the best Middleweight fights of all time.

HAHAHAHA Well that puts a new spin on this hole argument.

Now that I think about it. Calderon should've won that one.
    Calderon def. has an arguement.
What about JMM, Mijares and Solis?

u prolly stopped a S*** load of bitching by pointing that out lol
Mijares had 4 solid fights this year and Upset Arce. He had a great year.

I don't know about Solis. He did get KOed by PACMAN. I know Paq is a top p4p fighter but nobody would consider Hatton a candidate for fighter of the year either.

Wrong Solis. He's talking about Ulises Solis the junior Flyweight, who had an outstanding year

As soon as I seen the word PREMIOS, I knew this was more geared to the LATINO.
BTW, premios means prizes/awards in Spanish.

I personally feel Pavlik should get the recognition as fighter of the year.

Anyway, congrats to Cotto for being recognized by the Hispanic community still a good little achivement for what it's worth.

This award is no more relevant that if Mikkel Kessler wins "Fighter of the Year," from Fox Sports Denmark.

Come on frozen.... Well thought out post.

Denmark is a country Latin America is a region.
Maybe if you would have said:
This award is no more relevant that if Mikkel Kessler wins "Fighter of the Year," from Fox Sports DenmarkEurope.

your comment would have made sense. So you know, just search Latin American so you can see how big it is.

    Fair enough.

It was meant to be a statement on how misleading the title of the topic is.

And FYI....... Europe is a continent, Latin America is a region.

    Award should go too

    1. Kelly Pavlik
    2. Floyd Mayweather
    3. Miguel Cotto

Pavlik came from no where and reaked havoc, I don't like the guy but he deserved fighter of the year
