I guess they think he has a backstory worth telling.

I'm really looking forward to watching it actually, I've been searching the torrent sites but no luck as of yet.

I really don't see why you object though, he's an All American fighter, flashy, why wouldn't they do a documentary on him.

The BBC have made several Amir Khan documentaries in the last couple years so why not Paulie?

You forget that America is a nation like any other and so they like to cover their own up and coming fighters.

I'm sure Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Nonito Donaire and Christian Mijares all get documentaries about them in their own countries so why moan about America doing one one of their most exciting new talents?

I maon because it's PAULIE MALIGNAGII. We are not talking about a superstar here. His biggest claim to fame is getting his face destroyed and put together via surgery thanks to the fists of the Caguas Crusher. And there may very well have been Margarito/Cotto etc docs on but I have not seen any picked up bu Showtime.Have you? I thought not.

Come on Gamo, Paulie gave Cotto his toughest fight, they say.

well i doubt the documentary is about pauli changing the face of boxing...Seems more about coming from a broken home, and what he went through to be where he is.

I agree with you on this, El Gamo.

I'm not sure why they picked him to showcase. It may as well be on Lifetime or some other fem channel because no one outside of boxing knows who he is. It could be a work of fiction and have the same "punch."

No-one has heard of him in the mainstream but he's got an interesting story, i think it's more too raise his mainstream profile rather than for us hard-core fans.

lol. I was thinking the exact same myself.

Out of all the boxers past and present to do a doc on that choice was certainly out of left field.

Well what other Showtime American fighters are there for them to cover? Remember most of the other big name American boxing stars are on HBO what bigger young American stars does Showtime feature?

It's no different to the BBC putting out documentaries on Amir Khan when they have coverage to his fights. They obviously wouldn't make a documentary about a non British fighter and they wouldn't make a documentary about a British fighter who they didn't have a license to show their fights. Note how most of the Hatton Mayweather buildup was on Sky rather than the BBC for example as Sky had rights for the fight not the BBC.

Paulie is currently a Showtime fighter, he's young, all American, he's flashy, and a world champ, and a potential money maker for them and is fighting next week.

A documentary makes sense to me, it's no difference to the 'No average Joe' doc before Calzaghe fought Sakio Bika I guess.

Lou DiBully already had all of this set up. He thought that Paulie was going to beat Cotto and so they were already working on this project before his fight with Cotto. I think Lou has the hots for Paulie.
Anyway.. I heard this documentary was nothing but bullshiet. But why would anyone glorify someone for getting their @ss kicked by a weight drained, unintrested, chinny, one dimmensional, slow, stupid, plodding, who gets hit too much, robot, tailor made fighter?
    LMAO!
I too, have looked for this documentary on the net and it is no where to be found. Not even the main boxing sites who have great fights to offer, have this documentary available. Shows me they are not interested in this stupid documentary either and or have seen it as a complete bullshiet bogus lie-propaganda film.

Heh, you either love or hate the guy, I gotta love it, he's a character and boxing needs that. He does sell lots of tickets in NY tho you can deny that. He fought alot of fights with a injury, and he brings great speed and boxing ability to the table. He's a hard fight for anyone. The more I see of him the more I like him.

You've completely missed the point Gamo, Showtime is an American broadcasting network so why would they make a documentary about a non American fighter? When was the last time you watched a BBC or ITV made documentary about Bernard Hopkins or Roy Jones Jr or Floyd Mayweather?

That's right, we don't make documentaries about non British fighters in this country because we are British!

Paulie is a hot young AMERICAN talent, he's the best young AMERICAN talent currently being show on SHOWTIME an AMERICAN channel. So if they are going to make a documentary about an AMERICAN SHOWTIME fighter he is the clear an obvious choice.

They wern't making a documentary to broadcast to the world. It's no different to Fox Network in Australia putting out a documentary about Anthony Mundine or Danny Green, I'm sure they have made a bunch.

I just can't see what you are objecting about. I guess if ESPN made a documentary about an AMERICAN ESPN fighter you would object to that too?

Excuse the capitals buddy but I've clearly got to break it down for you. :P
