Anyone know if they are planning a 24/7 for Pavlik/Taylor II? I know it's not for a belt, but does it rate high enough for a 24/7? Personally I would love them to have 24/7 for that fight, bt don't necessarily think it is deserving enough. Maybe if JT wins and they fight a rubber match down the line

I don't think they are planning one for this fight.I can see both sides of the argument for this one. It COULD be an amazing fight BUT on the other handit has no relevance. Kelly loses,he's still champ.JT loses,he goes to 168 and starts afresh.

Sorry dude,I have to totally disagree. 24/7 should be saved for the mega fights otherwise it'll lose it's novelty. Heck,it's not even as if this fight is of any great significance in the grand scheme of things other than to us hardcore fans.
Wow the little wayward El Gamo actually agrees with the wise old hobbit on this one.

By the way, if you want to criticize HBO right now, criticize them for this:

Over the past couple weeks, they've made copyright claims on almost all of their fights that are on youtube, and as a result they've been pulled. I can understand HBO complaining about a recent fight like Floyd-Hatton, but why bother pulling fights that are 10-15 years old?

In a related story, I'm now going on a downloading/burning binge of all the great fights that got pulled.

    My sentiments exactly Bilbs...

I think 'Countdowns' are good and should be made for World Class fights. But 24/7's should be reserved for the elite/meaningful bouts.
For the Cottos, PBFs, Wladdys, JMMs etc. etc. etc.

I think once in a while HBO should do a "The Best Of" for their fighters, show complete fights, do background information, and do it for everyone that has an HBO contract.

Can you imagine the benefits of something like this? When there is a large gap between fights you can do that and it costs NOTHING, you just show fight after fight after fight.

I have noticed they do this SOMETIMES but they never show ALL the fights or even the best ones, usually just the most recent ones and only one or two.....show them all or at least make them all available On Demand

HBO owns the rights to many of boxing's greatest fighters and also many of our sports great fights. Yet to the hardcore boxing fan, old fights are hard come by and many fighters are so unpromoted they can come onto the world stage unknown.

HBO ties itself to boxing to make money. HBO has no interest in the health of boxing and should it become unprofitable in the morning it would be dropped.

This is a funny post . HBO's responsibility is too sale the fight and there is no better way to sale the fight then giving it an episode (at least one) of 24/7. It has proven to be a great success and I guarantee that it produced an extra 100,000 + PPV sales for Hatton Vs Mayweather. The show is not designed too hook the hardcore fans in it is designed to market to the casual fan who may not know the history of either fighter or the significance of the fight itself, hardcore fans know this stuff already . If you want " Novelty" get a fighters career collection on DVD, if you want "Novelty" get a subscription to a boxing magazine, if you want " Novelty" buy tickets too a fight, I dont care what you do. But just like any free enterprise business that trying to sale a product you must market your merchandise, nobody watches countdown to That program is for hardcore fans and even they don't mind if they miss it, the show get's poor ratings and is circumstantial. Saying that 24/7 will ruin it's novelty is a dumb statement, that's like saying if we show previews to movies that are low budget going into the movie theaters it will ruin the NOVELTY of blockbuster hits going into the movie theaters I read one post in which one guy say's the reason they should not do it is because it cost too much money All marketing cost money, what planet are you living on . I am not saying that we should do a 24/7 for fights like Malignaggi Vs Ngoudo but this fight warrents one, so how can you say that this only means something to the hardcore fans, you are a complete dumbass. There will be Latin fans that watch this fight (not just Puerto Ricans) that very rarely watch fights, but just off of the history and loyalty of Trinidad they will order this fight, Jones also brings in a certain fanbase even though it has declined in recent years. These are two first ballot HOF in the twilight of their careers going out on their shield too put on one last (Maybe) great show. With Mayorga Vs Vargas (fighters that are shot and not HOF) putting up 300,000 PPV buy's it is a chance that this fight can bring in great money, and the bottom line is that they should market it

FYI,HBO did like a 30 minute programme for this fight, hyping it.That was more than enough imo.
