agreed. Torres floored Cotto remember and really made Cotto work to win that fight. I think Hatton could stop Torres late on but would be a very hard fight, especially if hes tryna use Torres as a confidence builder! Personally i would like to see him fight Witter as its a big name now at 140 and would make money.

Torres can bang but he's totally 1 dimensional. He has power and heart but not much else.Nothing under rated about him whatsoever,he is a limited but powerful champion. However, you could be right in that Hatton is going to be walking straight into him and his power shots,so it would make for an exciting fight.

Juan Urango may have something to say about that. I'd love to see Jeff v Ricardo, what a war!! These 2 guys have no defence, not much speed, but A LOAD of power!

Demetrius is a good fighter, with a bright future, but he isnt ready,if his manager puts him in there with Hatton,he should be shot

If that happen it going to like when Vargas Maneger put him to fight with Trinidad , Vargas never was the same and Tito took him out of the road . Was sad because Vargas was a good fighter .

Hatton isn't exactly a great boxer himself, he gets caught an awful lot. And he has a tendency to come straight forward without using head movement. Im not saying Torres is a great boxer or etc. But with his power, chin, heart. He would be a tough opponent for Hatton and i wouldn't be surprised if Torres laid Hatton out.

No opponent has been set, but a source in the Hatton camp told the paper that WBC junior welterweight champion Junior Witter has been ruled out. Undefeated Demetrius Hopkins, WBO 140-pound champ Ricardo Torres and Kendall Holt are all possibilities for the date. It appears Hatton wants to take a fight before challenging someone like a Paulie Malignaggi for the IBF title.

The last time Hatton fought in his hometown of Manchester was back in 2005 at the MEN Arena, the night he beat Kostya Tszyu in a career defining fight. More than 22,000 came to see Hatton beat Tszyu, more than double could pack the house in Eastlands
    Hatton is very frustrating.

He says he is the best at 140. Why wouldn't he fight the best? The two most deserving guys are Witter and malignaggi. In that order. Yet, he is leapfrogging those guys to face much lesser opposition.

And the clock is ticking on Witter's prime.

Torres could crack Hatton but stylistically that might be the best fight for Hatton. He's there for Hatton to hit without much trouble.

Holt might actually not be that easy a fight. He'd move a lot, he's fast and can actually punch a bit especially if he catches you with something you don't see. His chin is a bit crap though, that's his main problem.

You know I agree with him though... If he is as good as everyone seems to think, then why should he need a tune up before he fights Malignaggi... Did you see Paulie's fight last week?? If Hatton isn't confident he can beat him without a tune up he must have really taken the loss to Floyd badly... I mean he just fought the #1 p4p guy in the sport at welter.. Why in the hell would he take anything but the biggest fights at 140, it's a very weak division anyways.

I disagree. Dude, there are 2 main points. Firstly,I think Hatton genuinely believed that he was going to win. Secondly, very very very few thought he was going to dominated and KTFO in that manner. It must have killed his confidence totally or at least severly damaged it.

So,rather than come back and fight any of the top fighters, regardless of how weak the division is,he's doing the smart thing and taking a confidence builder. It's irrelevant how Paulie looked v Herman if Hatton's confidence is shot to pieces.

I don't see whats wrong with a confidence booster first before he fights Paulie or etc. Its not good just stepping in with one of the elite fighters after an embarrassing KO loss. Like El Gamo just pointed out it doesn't matter if Paulie didn't impress in his last fight. Hatton needs to do the smart thing and get a bit of confidence back. Remember boxing is not just physical sport, you also need to have a good strong mental game before coming into a fight.

The 3rd reason is Powderpuff-Hatton only really makes sense in New York - MSG. Hatton is due a HOME fight. His followers deserve it.
