Fair play to Lacy. He's always been real honest, real honest. He doesn't do to many interviews but he doesn't blow hot air either. Anyone unfortunate enough to watch the Manfredo fight knows that he isn't in full form and Lacy knows that too. So does Tarver.
It's a good thing to hear from a fighter that he knows he needs work and he's not at the top of his game. I really wish he would get into the ring sooner then April or May but that's his decision.
I'm not sure how he returns but I've invested enough to keep watching and keep being a fan. He does have flaws mechanically but when he is on top of his game he is as much of an overwhelming force as there is. I do think he can beat Tarver and I can't wait for that fight because regardless of what happens in his career before or after, that is pretty much the Super Bowl for him.
Best of luck to Lacy, I'm certainly still a fan. It is a bit concerning that he hasn't shown any improvement in 3 fights now but once he shakes off some of that sluggishness then I think the two or three out there still on the Lacy bandwagon are in for a treat.
Not sure if he'll ever be champion again but like I said, at his best he is one of the more exciting and fierce fighters in all of boxing. Like I said, wish he would get in there again before May as I think any time is lost time but if the shoulder feels good and he is working on becoming a better fighter and trimming off some of that muscle mass then I suppose you can't complain.
