    So did Calzaghe

    A past it eubank

    And overhyped lacy

only threat name on his resume you could say is Kessler.

But Roy has beaten Hopkins and James toney in their primes thats two future hall of famers that went on to make great legacies .

Same cannot be said for Calzaghe

But I'd be back and forth all night with you.

I was disapointed that Roy did not win by KO. But otherwise he put on a pretty good show. Tell ya one thing though and I'm a diehard Roy Jones Jr. fan -HE BETTER NOT FIGHT LIKE THAT AGAINST JOE CALZAGHE OR HE WILL LOSE DAMN NEAR EVERY SINGLE ROUND.

I doubt he would. Joe is a southpaw and has a completely different style.

I would certainly hope not. Cus he needs to THROW MORE PUNCHES! That's my main concern. Everything else looked alright IMO.

CC, nough said there.. However, I'd like to think any boxing fan with a head on their shoulders would know that should Jones and Calzaghe fight now, their resume's won't have anything to do with what happens on fight night. Jones Jr has beaten guys better than Calzaghe, but it's questionable what he has left(I didn't see him fight tonight, so can't speak on his current condition). Calzaghe has never fought anyone like, or as good as Jones, however he is better than his opposition would imply, and has proven that.

CC back, I totally agree. I just think it is a very interesting match up. A better match up than Joe vs. Bernard IMO

Its useless, at this point in time Joe beats Roy because Roy can't fight 3 minutes of every round. While back in the day Clazaghe would have never beaten Roy because you can't beat somebody better htan you in everything.

I don't believe there's any question that Roy would have beaten Calzaghe 5 years ago. Anyone who says otherwise is completely blind and riding Calzaghe's nuts HARD. It wouldn't have even been cllose if were talking a prime Roy Jones. Not only in terms of the difference in talent, but Roy had the right style to completely embaress Joe. He'd potshot him al night, until he hurt him and jumped on him.. BUT, I think the fact that he has faded so much is what makes it interesting. It leaves the question of whetherre he can muster up enough in one training camp to actually beat JOe. I didn't see him fight tonight(PPV didn't carry it, fukin joke) but I need to in order to realistically asses his chances vs Calzaghe.

he faced James Toney and Hopkins, and I would rate Toney higher than Calzaghe on my 168 all time ladder, not because of what he accomplished at the weight, but because he was better. I guarantee that prime Toney ko's Calzaghe, Calzaghe isn't fast enough or hits hard enough to overwhelm Toney. Michael Nunn was faster than Calzaghe, in great shape, better skills, and he was countered all night by Toney, and after that he fell apart, but the point is that Roy has foughten two guys who at their prime were better than Calzaghe. Calzaghe has only foughten Kessler who is a great fighter, but not an ATG fighter. The only reason IMO Calzaghe would beat Roy is because Roy can't keep up with him in terms of the pace of the fight. Calzaghe is to relentless and he still can maintain that fast pace for every minute of every round. There would be a few pounds where Roy's superior speed and skill would shine through, but mostly it would be Calzaghe outworking him, much like Calzaghe outworked Kessler, but moreso.
I'm not sure you guarantee it

Jones Calzaghe would be a really interesting fight for a few reasons, Tarver and Johnson proved that Jones' chin is shot to pieces. but Calzaghe hasnt got that sort of shot so his chin wouldnt really be tested. Calzaghe' strengths are his speed and his ability to beat his opponents to the jab aswell as outworking his opponent for the full twelve rounds. Jones proved last night his still possesses phenomonal hand speed and is probably still the fastest fighter around bar mayweather. Hes also the naturally bigger man, however Kessler is naturally bigger and Joe still bullied him around the ring and hurt him badly with a body blow. Im a Calzaghe fan so im going to go for Jc by UD but i also love Jones jr and would not be the least bit suprised if turned it on 1 more time.
