I think there'll be a lot of money in a Calzaghe-Pavlik match if they let it build a little. Joe should forget about his next fight being his last and go for a belt at 175 (probably Woods). In the meantime Pavlik might have beaten JT again and another (preferably a decent name such as Abraham or even Winky). He'll be well established at that point. It'd be a similar scenario to the Kessler fight really and I think it'll do a lot more for Joe than a Jones fight.
The problem with a possible Joe C v Pavlik matchuo is that Joe is looking to move to 175, whereas Kelly might go back to 160 after the Taylor II fight. I think once Joe goes to 175 to fight he isnt coming back down to 168, and 168 is as high as Pavlik is going.

I kinda sorta agree...but honestly...I just want to see the Jones fight happen so that I can finally say that one of my home turf favorites actually made the fight happen...whethere it be Jones or Hopkins...I just want one of my American players put their asses on a boat.

While Jones is still working his way back to the top...if you stop & look at it...he's done enough to merit the shot @ Joe. He's won & lost just like any other fighter out there...but Jones unconsciously set such a high bar for himself worldwide that everyone expects more than the most from him.

Maybe he'll prove us all wrong & we'll get it...the most, I mean.

I have no desire to see that fight. It's way to early for Pavlik & I honestly just don't see it as being fair or enough prep time for Pavlik. I've been a huge fan & believer of Pavlik's for quite some time now...& gaining a few L B's or not...I just don't see him being ready for the elite man of 168lbs. Maybe a few tuners prior to going for Joe...but the skill level & speed difference between the two...not to mention technique is a whole lot bigger of a gap than most want to believe.

Winky needs to stay at 160lbs. I was at Hopkins vs Wright & Winky looked like shit. Gettin fat aint his strong suit...but I honestly believe that Wright'd be too much for Pavlik @ 160lbs. Abraham vs Pavlik would be a beaut of a bout...Pavlik going toe to toe with Abraham would be a welcome sight to this ole' bwoy'z eyes.

Honestly...I just gotta say that I'd like to see Pavlik beat Taylor again & then drop back down & dominate 160lbs by going in the pecking order of Sturm, Abraham, & then Wright. Christ that'd be sweet.

    Good stuff.

I'll be in' ya in another 24 hours for the good post.

    Eggs-zackree!

Once up...Calzahge aint comin back down unless he takes a beat down & Pavlik needs to stay down & own the property as long as he possibley can...honestly I believe that Pavlik would be a good representation of what we need at 160lbs...a new champion that's as dominate as Hopkins was in his hey day.

If Carl Froch destroys Inkin, and another top SMW (Mundine, Kessler, Bute) then a bout between him and Joe C could very well be a good money spinner in the UK. Bit of a long shot but still a possibility.

I think that there's a pretty fine chance of him handling Inkin & Bute.

Mundine & Kessler? Nah...atleast not Kessler.

Pavlik/Taylor- I would make Joe the favored over both
Dawson- I see Chad being to big, to strong and to young for Joe
Johnson- No way this happens. Joe already ducked him 3 times. He would make it 4 if the opportunity presented itself
I agree, well mostly anyway :-)
I can see Calzaghe beating Hopkins, because Hopkins has the bad habit of waiting and waiting and waiting... Hopkins will not be able to maintain Calzaghe's pace and is simply too slow of a starter these days.

I cannot see Calzaghe beating Jones. Even Jones at this stage of his career, would tame Calzaghe IMO. His speed will neutralize Calzaghe's punch output and Joe will not hit hard enough for Jones to go into a shell. Joe will be the one that slows his output for fear of getting nailed with counter punches. Jones wins this.
Ok, so you can see Calzaghe beating Hopkins because Hopkins won't be able to keep up at Calzaghe's pace, a pace I might add that Hop wouln'dt try to maintain in the first place. Why? because that's not how he fights. But he does win fights. And to touch on Jones/Calzaghe, if speed can tame Calzaghe, why can't being extremely experienced and cagey neutralize as well? Oh, and very good rough inside fighting.
Oh, I would like to see Calzaghe/Jones or Hopkins/Pavlik please.

If the question was who do i want to see joecal fight, the answer would probably be johnson. again, beating a young, prime fighter at 175 would do so much more for him than beating a 70% rjj, as pryor said. but that would be a real interesting matchup, as johnson might be too strong for joe...but thats just what i want

Ay Lightheavy the risk is too much, Clinton Woods if he simply must fight, but otherwise retire.

Wait and see how Joe handles the new weight before I make a final decision, but I picked winner of Pavlik/Taylor has who he SHOULD fight IMO. It would be a huge fight and it wouldn't be part of this seniors tour that seems to be going on.

I actually belive Pavlik would be a much tougher fight than Wacko thinks, though I don't dissagree with him often, he's strong with tremoundous power and stamina, his output is almost as high as Joe's, but more impressive in the fact that most of his shots are power shots.

As for who I WANT him to fight, that's a toughie. I don't think he'd get as much credit as he should if he beat any of the guys on the list to be honest, so on that respect it doesn't matter. Many of the guys who believe that Jones' performance against Trinidad was impressive, and that he'd do well against Joe, will be the first guys on here the next day to discredit a Joe win.

One fight I don't WANT to see is with Pavlik, since I've lined him up as my new favourite fighter once Joe retires, so that leaves probably a fight with Johnson for me as a swansong for him.

I went with Roy Jones i think Jones can still beat him i would have liked Woods and even perhaps Froch on the list.

Two reasons...#1 : After Joe has a really ruff & tuff rumble on the way to defeating Hopkins...he'll need a bit of a breather. While ole' Glengoffe is no walk in the park...he's a good name & one that's been in line for awhile to get a shot at Calzaghe. Johnson would be a good show & he'd be a great set up & motivational test for Roy Jones jr.

Reason #2 : Jones got KTFOBT by Johnson...this would be a great promotional tool to bring Jones to the table provided that Joe total kicks the shit outta him...which I believe that he would.

So...RJJ would have been my first vote.
You must be THE BIGGEST Calzaghe kiss ass on the forum Wacko. Seriously.

i agree, calzaghe will get little credit for beating jones. at least fighting the winner of taylor and pavlik hes fighting someone in their prime. then again joe if he takes that fight will probably get panned for fighting a smaller opponent

clicked the wrong one, meant to go for Dawson... apart form pavlik he is the only one there who still has a big fute in the sport... i think he ones one of the best on the list and by beating him his name will improve as dawson hits the big times him self...

Joe can get away with fighting hopkins because he is still in the top 10 p4p, has the ring belt and its in the states... HE goes about fighting jones or johnson after it the usual haters will be back syaing how hes ducking pavlik or chad dawson and is only fighting old washed up guys (partly you could agree with them too!)

So either retire after beating hopkins or finish of with Dawson and let him go on and do good things.
